RMweb Gold Popular Post Market65 Posted November 17, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted November 17, 2023 Good evening, everyone. Firstly, thank you, Mick, for that excellent photo’ of Ex F3, now N13, at Springhead, c1952. This evening more photo’s from knoxrj, on Flickr. The first one is of D3, 4345, and the caption states it is on the 09.20 Leeds to Bridlington service, on the 23rd August, 1930. However, although the date may be right, I am unsure of the location, it could be the carriage sidings to the south of Bridlington, with the main running lines to the extreme right of the photo’. The second photo’ is of C12, 4543, at Hull Paragon station. It looks like it could be the early 1930’s. The train might be a working to either Brough or Beverley. Thirdly we have C12, 4524, but more confusion, unfortunately. It is stated to be at Hornsea, but clearly it cannot be so. The train is coming off single track, and going over a crossing. It’s possible it could be on the Withernsea line. Actual location details would be most welcome. Finally, here’s a photo’ of B2, 5424, at Hull Paragon station, in c1933. There are no other details. Best regards, Rob.
RMweb Gold Popular Post Market65 Posted November 18, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted November 18, 2023 Good evening, everyone. This evening we have a further set of four photo’s thanks to knoxrj, on Flickr. The first one is of class D22, 1537, on the turntable at Bridlington shed. Possibly in the early 1930’s. The second photo’ is of a class D17/1, 1620, at an exhibition at Hull Paragon station in the 1930’s. Also one the single diesel railcars can be seen. Sadly, details of these exhibitions seem to have disappeared. The third photo’ is of Q5, 1177, when it was stored at Springhead. Finally, we have class B16/1, 843, leaving Market Weighton, on the Driffield line, for Bridlington, in August, 1936. Market Weighton’s East up distant can be seen on the left. RMweb Gold Popular Post Market65 Posted November 19, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted November 19, 2023 Good evening, everyone. Firstly, many thanks, Mick, for the photo’ of Jubilee, 45705, Seahorse, at Botanic Gardens, in the days when it was being converted prior to becoming a diesel depot for the new DMU’s. This evening we have another four photo’s courtesy of knoxrj, on Flickr. The first photo’ is of V2, 60966, as it passes Scarborough Londesborough Road station, on a summer Saturday extra or a summer Sunday excursion. The first two carriages are one of the Gresley steel twin-arts. The second photo’, is one of B16/1, 928, at Driffield, taking the line to Market Weighton and then either Selby or York, on the 10th August, 1935. The train is composed entirely of LMS corridor stock. The next photo’ is of B13, 756, near to North Howden, in about early 1934. Finally, we have a photo’ of D17/1, 1622, at Hull Paragon station in c1933. It appears to be backing onto some not visible carriages. In the left background can be seen a Sentinel steam railcar. Firstly, many thanks, Mick, for that excellent photo’ from the 24th August, 1952, of 45707, Valiant, at Botanic Gardens. And, I’m confident that you are right about Ryehill and Burstwick, it’s the only location that makes sense regarding that earlier photo’. And thanks for the signalling diagram. This evening, we are having four more photo’s courtesy of knoxrj, on Flickr. All but one are of D17’s. The first one is of B13, 748, whilst in store at Hull Springhead. The second photo’ shows D17, 1925, on a Leeds to Bridlington train, blasting up Enthorpe bank, c1933. A train composed entirely of ex-NER non corridor stock. The next photo’ is one of a D17, 1922, at Ferrriby, on an unknown date. Finally, we have a photo’ of a D17, 1909, again at Ferriby, in 1932. micknich2003
Russ, the Boom Gates only clossed off the roadway, they were electricly worked and worked together. The ref on the photo was to the original set up with mechanical gates and four lines. If you want to model "Boom Gates" I made drawings when I was signalman, just ask.
RMweb Gold Popular Post Market65 Posted November 22, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted November 22, 2023 Good evening, everyone. This evening, with thanks again to knoxrj, on Flickr, we have four more local photo’s to enjoy. The first photo’ is of class D22, 1546, at Botannic Gardens, on the 4th June, 1933 - according to the caption it was the last D22 at Hull. The second photo’ is one of class D23, 1107, again at Botanic Gardens. No date is given. Thirdly, we have a photo’ of class D17, 1633, on the 14.05 to Doncaster at Hessle, on Sunday the 7th April, 1934. Note the carriages. The first one is a former GNR six wheel, BT, and is followed by a GNR tri-art, then a GNR twin-art. The final vehicles are a little difficult to properly indentify. Finally, we have a photo’ of B17/1, 2833, Kimbolton Castle, at Hull Paragon station, in the early 1930’s, backing out after bringing in the 10.10 a.m., express from York via Market Weighton. Next it would be turned and then haul the Banbury fish as far as Doncaster. All part of that ‘Doncaster Triangle’ of daily workings. The first one is of class B17/1, 2837, Thorpe Hall, on the Banbury fish, from Hull, as far as Doncaster, in March, 1933. The second photo’ is one of a class J39, curving away from Driffield, on the line to Market Weighton, in 1935. The train will almost certainly be a return excursion, and is made up,almost entirely of ex-NER non corridor stock, apart from the first carriage which appears to be of ex-H&BRlwy origin. Next is another class J39, 1496, at Ferriby, in 1933, on a mixed freight train. Finally, here is a photo’ of class D49/1, 62723, Nottinghamshire, leaving Filey, in July, 1960, on a service to Scarborough. I always think of the B17s as East Anglian engines. Keep forgetting they strayed this far up north and also did regular runs to/from Sheffield.

The second photo’ is one which is of Park Street, Hull, in July, 1951. It is of a class C12, 67392, and an ex-GER corridor third. RMweb Gold Market65 Posted November 27, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted November 27, 2023 (edited) Good evening, everyone. This evening, we have four more photo’s, courtesy of knoxrj, on Flickr. The first one shows class J25, 65693, on a long train of open wagons, in the deep cutting at Little Weighton, in possibly the early 1950’s. The second photo’ is of class A6, 69791, on a Sunday Hornsea train, near to Sutton, in July, 1951. Note the mucky state of both the engine and first carriage, and the boy in the door window. Thirdly, we have a photo’ of class C2, 3986, on a three carriage train, departing from Driffield, on the line to Market Weighton, in possibly the early 1930’s. Now, here is a mystery which I cannot explain. I have never seen that headlamp code on what I can only assume is a passenger train before. Does anyone know what means? Finally, we see class C6, 1680, at Hull Paragon station sometime in the 1930’s. Two fish vans lead the formation, and I wonder if the train is an early afternoon departure for Scarborough? Best regards, Rob. Edited November 27, 2023 by Market65 To insert a word.
