Andrew P
A couple of slight mods to the Track alignment today has seen the Dairy slewed back a bit to leave room for the Signal Cabin to go next to the Level Crossing, and The Provender Store Road just pulled out a little. Andrew P
Well the first Passenger Service left Pencarne Junction this morning for Trewenn, it was Prairie Tank 4555 and a B Set, it departed at 09.35 and due at Trewenn at 10.05, so just a 30 min journey at a nice sedate pace. Passing the West Yard. Driver Len Hawkin goes cautiously past Warleggans Warehouse. And out into the open Countryside. It soon passes over a rocky Stream on an Embankment, and above the Masons Arms and Masons Lane. And passes the Fields of Cattle, (use your imagination) and approaches the Level Crossing. With Fireman Pete giving a friendly wave to the Signalman as it passes the Trewenn Signal Box. And enters Trewenn to rapturous applause, (well ok there was actually NO ONE waiting, not even the Station Master, he was busy with Mrs Jones he said later in court). Once the sole Passenger had disembarked the Loco moved forward to run around its Carriages. And then at 11.40 it departs for Pencarne Junction. Andrew P
At Lunchtime a Pannier Tank arrived Light Engine from St Blazey Shed to take the Vans down to Wenford Bridge. And has to run around them. And once coupled up departs for Wenford bridge. A couple of Hours later it returns but is going direct to Pencarne Junction for onward movement to Exeter later in the day on a Pick Up Goods that will call at Pencarne Junction. RMweb Premium Ray H Posted November 23, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 23, 2015 If a picture paints a thousand words, think how many words the above images have written. Think of the books you could produce (in pictures) if your line to Wenford Bridge continued to Sodor and the locos had smiley faces on them! Brilliant. Jock67B
Andy, It's hard to believe that you are able to enjoy a play (sorry, operating session!) so soon! Well done mate, and now I'm looking forward to lessons on landscaping etc. Kind regards, Jock.

Can't be real modelling. Hi Andy Looks like this will be fun to drive.
RMweb Premium St Enodoc Posted November 23, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 23, 2015 First Running to Trewenn 016.JPG Andy, it looks as though the platform road is a bit tight to hold the loco and B-Set and allow a goods to pass on the loop. Could you squeeze in another inch or so perhaps at the Wenford end?
RMweb Premium Bogie Posted November 24, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 24, 2015 The half hour journey from Pencarne Junction to Trewenn was a most enjoyable trip. So much to see/imagine I didn't even notice the curtains (damn I mentioned them again!). I still do not know how you have time to set everything up, modify things ever so slightly, photograph it, upload it and describe it. I very much appreciate that you do. You seem to have an uncanny sense of proportion - nothing looks cluttered and yet nothing looks sparse.

Morning St Enodoc, if you look again at this pic you will see that the I've pushed the coaches back to far and over the loop Point at the far end, BUT I do have about 5 inches in front of the Loco and his gives me room for the Loop to be used. I tested the Station Track with a Class 22 and the B Set for passing clearance and all was fine. Thanks anyway for thinking of that.

Hi Andy Finescale, wow..........I am sure you can join the Scalefour Society on line these days When I use to take Hanging Hill out to shows I use to go round all the society stands collecting membership forms. Why are all hall floors uneven? I always had to use folded up society membership forms under at least one leg to stop the layout wobbling. Joining on line means I have had to improve my woodworking skills.

RMweb Gold Anotheran Posted November 24, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 24, 2015 I'm imaging at least a couple if not up to 5 Miles between Pencarne and Trewenn. Sedate is definitely the word for that. 10 mph if it is five miles. If it is only a couple you could walk it taking pictures of the train as you went along! The way in which you've brought the two layouts together into a complete story, illustrated by photos of your modelling, in such quick time is very much an inspiration. Kind regards, Neil

He uses a combination of Card, Plasticard, Brick Papers and Tin Foil, for some stunning effects, he also uses Brass Window inserts for the Sash Windows. I love em. No seriously I need to work out some timings and a scale time / distance for the workings, I'm thinking now that it should be about 15 Miles between the two Stations. RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted November 24, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 24, 2015 Thanks Neil, the Driver stopped for Peeeeeeeeee on the way. No seriously I need to work out some timings and a scale time / distance for the workings, I'm thinking now that it should be about 15 Miles between the two Stations. Our local branch is 5 miles long with two intermediate stations - passenger trains are allowed 12 minutes end-to-end, start-to-stop; that is for a Class 16X dmu, the allowance for a Class 121 or 122 was exactly the same, the allowance for a GW railcar was exactly the same, the allowance for a pannier and two coaches was the same, the allowance for a 14XX and trailer was the same, oh and the allowance in broad gauge days was - the same (apart from some trains which were booked to do it in 10 minutes). So 30 mph for a passenger trains sounds about right, but that is with a maximum permitted speed of 50mph.
Andrew P
Yes Mike, thanks for that info, I was thinking as per the South Devon Railway line with about 25 to 30 mph would be about right so Half Hour and about Miles.

Jock67B
Andy, what did you use to join the SMP to the Peco points as a matter of interest, and did you thicken the cork at the join as the sleeper heights seem to be quite a lot different? I've got about five yards of old SMP code 80 I want to incorporate, but will probably end up buying Peco points, hence the question! Kind regards, Jock. I CHEATED, Hence the Old name BODGIT my friend, hahhaha, I used Peco Code 75 joiners, they don't carry any current as I have droppers all along the SMP, but are merely there to help alignment. If you look carefully you will see Black Card under the SMP where it joins the Peco. When I come to do the ballasting I will remove any pins holding down the SMP, and that will let the SMP lift and float to a natural level. Then when I apply Ballast Some will go under the Sleepers and hold it all the same height as the Peco Points. Hope that helps mate.
