cheesysmith
I am about to update and detail a lima model of 47 522. I need the following information. What under frame tank arrangement applies for when it was in the LNER green? Did it still have it`s boiler exhaust ports on the boiler room roof?, or had it been repaneled? When did this loco have it`s buffer beams cut away? When it was in green, what braking arrangement was it fitted with, air only or dual braked? Cheers in advance for any of these questions you out there may be able to answer. DS Smith

Guest B Exam
47522 Ran for a short period with BR blue bodysides - Almost like large logo, but without large numbers and arrows after overhaul at Doncaster in Sept 1987. It ran like that for about 2 weeks before being recalled to Doncaster for final repainting into Apple Green. I have a slide somewhere in this variation. It needs digging out and scanning! Found a photo: https://flickr.com/photos/andy_masons_gallery/7119614009/ Also of note, 47522 regained a headcode box at No.2 end after collision damage and receiving a cab off 47645. cheesysmith
Does anybody have a better photo of the boiler roof area? Cheers for all the help so far. DS Smith PS-I am doing this for my father, so it will be keeping the original lima paint job (with maybe a little change).

cheesysmith
Sorry to resurect a old thread, but having got to the buffer beam detailing stage, I have anouther question. When the 47 were fitted with ETH on the cab front, as shown above, did the footstep on the buffer beam surround get moved towards the centre? If you compair the photo of 47 522 next to the blue one, it looks different placement to me? Ps-the model in question is almost finished, but not totally until warmer weather comes along to allow a respraying of the awful Lima yellow plastic cabs. Who knows, I might even let my father have it back.
RMweb Gold Robert Shrives Posted February 15, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 15, 2016 Hi Not sure if front steps differed by built batch but there was a narrow placing and a wider placing in use across the fleet, the value of the photograph in the hobby... 45125
Most of the ETH fitted 47s did have the drivers side step moved inboard as would have fouled the dummy socket.
