Folkestone-Dover sea wall wash-out

Recommended Posts

To the post office now, sending decoders to AndyF, for fitting to the Electrostar, converted from a 170 Turbostar.

it will be on my layout,in a couple of weeks.

Then head up to Dover Priory, for hopefully a Class 70 Colasrail arrival, with 20 plus Snappers @ 1000 hours.

Thanks for that David. From memory it was some sort of experimental vehicle that became the basis for the APT ooaches. I think it was of skeleton construction with weights to get the centre of gravity on the right place.Jamie

Will try to find the account later,if time allows, now out into the heavy rain of this morning.

He has been switched,to the up line, from the down line,  by the second set of trailing points, further north, of the set of trailers I mentioned earlier.

So,his last part of his approach to DP,is done on the Up line,

That second set of "trailing points" would, of course, be "facing points", otherwise the train would not be able to run in like that.

Regards

The skeletal frame units were known as the POP train, and served as the test bed for the tilt elements for the APT.

I hope you notice, that in this shot, the manufacturer, has Incorporated, in the paintwork,   that lemony colour you  love in new model loco products.

I see, Network Rail, have elected to keep the Chalk Tunneling Bird's nest box, after many year's of being attached to this site.

Sorry, but I did not take individual site jobs today, but, to me,           this is getting rather same, same, game.

My next visit, will not be until Thursday, when, another train is due to arrive.

After Thursday, my visits will be sporadic, not definite, as my grandchildren arrive for half term holiday's.

I have also have to undertake,a variety of one day, Work Experience Course's.

Information to the travelling public, also to locals, of the progress to repair the line, has been quite abysmal.

The last update from the local newspaper was Janaury 30 th

http://www.dover-express.co.uk/Repairing-train-line-Dover-Folkestone-cost/story-28442095-detail/story.html

From Network Rail,even worse.

Maybe a monitor at stations, with updated photos, of the on going site repair work, will appease the public.

Close up's of independent work site's, today. East To West.

Eastern most, in wall re- enforcement, looks like the small pile is ready to go in the trench next.

Nearest the tunnel mouths, the first section has been graded, I estimate, approx. 4' 6" in Height.
