Dicky W
Sorry for the 'blip' last month, but I was tied up with the April 'new look' Traction. Back in the chair this month, so here comes what's in April's mag: News and product reviews A first look at Garden Railway Specialist's in G gauge, more lorries from RTI, new transfers from Nairnshire Modelling Supplies and a fascinating new point motor - 'Little Jemmy". In reviews, Nigel Burkin looks at Dapol's N gauge 153 and Tony Wright examines the Bachmann OO Tornado. Layout focus Following his recent death, a comprehensive look at Peter Denny's Buckingham Branch by Tony Gee, with an obit by Mike Kippax and Beeches TMD a first-time OO gauge diesel depot from Paul Warburton there's more of Beeches in Traction too! hint! hint!) Operation The secret behind the realistic operation of Rhyd-y-Clafdy, the OO gauge Cambrian layout belonging to Phil Greaves. Also Nigel Burkin looks at the complex issue of SR EMU coding. Layout construction The next stage of the BRM Project layout, Canon's Cross after its first appearance at the Doncaster show and Tony Wright extends Little Bytham using Brilliant Baseboards' excellent materials. Readers' Layouts revealed Nick Merifield guides us round Troughbrook Central, following its previous appearance in Readers' Layouts. Project Paul Bason builds Townstreet's latest 'Cenotaph' concrete coaling tower in 4mm scale. MRC Centenary A view from the other side of Happisburgh's backscene as it goes on the road by Simon Bolton. Show preview A look at what's coming at 'Ally Pally' and York. Toy Division A trip to London gives David Brown food for thought. It makes a change for me these days as I actually only get to read BRM once it's printed. Makes my subs copy valuable again! See you next month of not before! Regards

Dicky W
i was under the impression that a build of Marc Models Silver jubbilee coaches wasto be included at somepoint any idea when or if this will be soon? Tony has the kit in the 'pipeline', but has been very busy recently. Any ideas why Tony Wright hasn't reviewed the new Hornby Castle ? The simple answer is because we haven't had one yet! RMweb Gold Savoyard Posted March 14, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 14, 2010 I noticed this issue in WHSmiths in Ambleside yesterday but not yet received my subscription copy. Has anyone received theirs? Peter

RMweb Premium Legend Posted March 14, 2010 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 14, 2010 I don't normally buy BRM as you can never browse inside it to see if worthwhile buying. However I got Railway Modeller on Friday and was so impressed with Buckingham supplement in it that I wanted to know more - so I bought BRM. And I was very impressed. A nice write up on Buckingham and the Rev Peter Denny that, even though I didn't know the man, I found very touching and interesting. At last there was a description of how the "automatic crispin" worked. Only small observation was that I could have done with a track diagram of the layout (there wasn't one of the final layout in RM either) But more than that, there are other interesting layouts in the mag plus an article on timetable operation. So overall a very good issue. Last one I bought was for Ken Paynes layout and I also enjoyed that issue.
6029 King Stephen
What date are subscription copies sent out? Not received my copy yet either. Regards, Steve
Dicky W
You should have had your subscription copy by now. If there's no problems with your local mail service give subscriptions a call. Regards
RMweb Gold Savoyard Posted March 15, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 15, 2010 No copy today so I rang the subscription department and they hadn't processed my subscription properly which I did at Warley! This has now been corrected and I will receive the copy in the next 7-10 days! I must admit I am not happy with another weeks wait before I get the magazine, I would have thought the least they could have done for their mistake was make sure the copy was in the post ASAP! The bordering on 'take it or leave' approach to customer service left a lot to be desired, not the way I treat my customers! Peter
RMweb Gold Savoyard Posted March 15, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 15, 2010 Steve I suggest you give the Subscription Dept a ring as you may have the same problem, it sounded like I wasn't the only one ringing about it. Peter
6029 King Stephen
I am not in the UK. It usually takes about two weeks to get mail so I was asking what date are suscription copies despatched so that I could add 14 days to that to estimate when my copy would be arriving. Also, was my March subscription copy a one-off with "Month 2010" on the spine rather than a more useful "March 2010"? Steve
David_S.
Steve, my March edition was also dated as 'Month 2010' on the spine, so I'm afraid yours is not unique!
RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted March 16, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 16, 2010 I must hand a plaudit to Phil Greaves and his article about the way in which he put his timetable together (although I did notice his deliberate mistake ) - nice layout too. And overall a good issue, definitely a bit 'livelier' than some others of late.
RMweb Premium 2ManySpams Posted March 17, 2010 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 17, 2010 Any ideas why Tony Wright hasn't reviewed the new Hornby Castle ? Castle???? Did they come out of Doncaster Rob??? (Other reason may be the huge volume of new models recently)
RMweb Gold gwrrob Posted March 17, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 17, 2010 Castle???? Did they come out of Doncaster Rob??? RMweb Gold Savoyard Posted March 18, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 18, 2010 As a follow up to my experience in my last post I spoke to someone in the publishing team on Monday and she couldn't have been more helpful and I received a copy of the latest issue yesterday. 6029 King Stephen
I have now received my issue too - well worth the wait. I was quite impressed with the article by Paul Bason about the coaling tower but at almost £120 I can't understand why somebody would buy that rather than the cheaper Hornby or Bachmann offerings or even the Superquick card kit. Why are Townstreet products so expensive? I had been tempted by their goods shed in the past but I just can't justify spending £50 on a small building. Sorry to have wandered off track a bit.....
