jazz
The Jubilee is now ready to go. It has an ABC power unit and a heavy weight in the boiler. I'm now having a break from the WB for other projects, one is looking though my drawings with a view to scratch building that I have now done for quite a while. I see what I come up with🤔 13
jazz
I've spent the past couple of weeks building this Eric Underwood kit for my Trenruth line. Being a bit 'old school in some areas' especially the chassis. The kit it was not an easy build, it seemed very fiddly compared to a similar loco from Scorpio's range. The cab weather sheet took some consideration how to make that, even though I say it myself, it looks convincing? Weathering is under way, the powders need to be finished as they are a bit heavy in places. Plus coal, crew and Dinghams to fit. I put a heavy weight inside the resin boiler. Powered by the Taff Vale Models 1833 and gear box. Runs very nice too. Edited June 7, 2022 by jazz 13
jdb82
I like the cab weather sheet a lot 😁 What is it made from? Cheers, John
jazz
Hi John. I used a length of copper electric wire cut slightly short of the width of the sheet, bend it to shape of roof. The used a piece of tissue paper cut to correct width and rolled it around the wire and ran PVA glue aver it and let it dry. Then painted it with Humbrol 'dirty black' when dry tied black cotton around the sheet and roof sheet supports. Carefully super glue sheet to roof. Then using a very small amount of super glue attach the cotton to the sheet roof supports. (That last bit use the most fiddly part). I finished off by a bit of black paint on the cotton knots to really secure them. 10
jazz
After a break in Suffolk which was very enjoyable, it's back to the WB. A couple of days spent making a start on the Taff Vale Models 2-4-0 LNWR Jubilee. A George Norton designed kit apparently. A bit tricky to get it all fitting together. Still a bit to do on it yet though.
jazz
That's the tender built. Finishing parts went OK. 11
jazz
A start is now made on the loco chassis. I looks like I will need to do some chopping on the frames to allow the bogie to swing.
Simond
That’s confused me, I was expecting a 2-4-0!

jazz
A bit more done for the chassis. Going OK so far.
jazz
Thats the chassis all done. All the clearances are very tight though, test running will be interesting. 13 1
jazz
It's been a very hectic week and hardly anything done on the WB. Tomorrow, hopefully, a bit of activity on it and a photo posted.🤞
jazz
At last some more work done on the LNWR Jubilee body. Quite a bit of fiddling around to get it at this stage. The smoke box was the worst to get it right.
jazz
It's been a bit of a slow build and rather difficult. Although to look at it one would wonder why. Even I cannot figure that out. There are still a couple of thigs to sort out, e.g. wiring it up to the pickups and motor. And a couple of things to add to the cab interior. 12
jazz
The past few days I've been building this Mercian Models Peckett. The 1833 motor and gear box (from Taff Vale Models) was a very tight fit. I would have been easier with a smaller unit despite what the instuctions say. Any all turned out OK in the end.
jazz
After another break, this time amongst other things full journey on the NYMR. Also anther heritage line and a river cruise on the Teeside Princess. Not counting the many other places we visited, all very enjoyable. Anyway, I'm now tackling the Gladiator kit for the Southern N15 King Arthur. Stating as usual with the tender. Easy to build too. Now starting the loco.
jazz
Now it's on with the loco chassis. All going well at the moment. I found the brake rodding and vac pump quite fiddly to do. Other than that easy going. I was pleased that the coupling rods need no reaming and tweaking to get a free running chassis.
jazz
The N 15 chassis is now almost completed, just the castings to add to the front of the cylinders. (The rear drivers are cocked up in the air due to the springs fitted to the centre pair) I will be away from the WB for a few days. Itching now to start it's body. jazz
Back again after a very nice week in west Yorkshire. Riding the heritage railways, excellent cruise on the canal from Skipton, visiting two castles and exploring Holmfirth, home of Last of The Summer wine. All finished off with a tour of a vineyard and lots of wine tasting. Sober now and spent the last tackling the body on King Arthur (the loco I hasten to add) Here it is almost done.

John Redrup of London Road (4mm) has commissioned a number of LNWR locos and applied George Norton tenders, 1800 and 2000 gal, as appropriate. Thanks to John, the LNWR is extremely well supported in 4mm. About twice what is available in 7mm.

jazz
King Arthur finished. Just noticed the front step has been bent back in construction. That will be sorted tomorrow. Also tomorrow it will be test run on the layout through the cross overs ect 9
