andyram
It certainly has inspired some of my changes to Skaleby North Yard (now Skaleby East).
RMweb Gold MarshLane Posted June 12, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 12, 2016 Hi Andy, Just catching up. Wow the speed of you progress is unreal. Have you found a way of pausing time while your modelling??? Love how it's all coming along and I'm in the agree camp for the stationmasters house, fits far better. One comment, and this isn't a Criticism in anyway, but from the station looking down the branch, the exit/entrance hole in the back scene is very visible. I wonder if I talk tree placed on the gardens side up against the back scene would help to disguise it? Really enjoying watching your progress tho Andy Rich
RMweb Gold Brinkly Posted June 12, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 12, 2016 (edited) Hi Andy, Nice to see progress mate. Only just caught up with your thread as school reports have rather got in the way the last few weeks! I think the houses on the quay look better than the warehouse, it looks less imposing on the whole scene. Kind regards, Nick. glenng
Love your layout Andi I think the houses on the quay look better than the warehouse. One comment the area next to the right of the house how about putting some net-drying huts like the ones on Hastings beach??

RMweb Gold MarshLane Posted June 12, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 12, 2016 Andy, Ah that's a good point ... I forgot about the folding fiddle yard. I suppose the other option would be to attach it to the short backscene? Presumably that lifts out to allow the fiddle yard to fold? Rich

Rich That's what I will need to do, just attach it to the front of the lift out end board and the bottom will sit behind the hedge out of sight.
Andrew P
A few days ago I went into the Old Potting Shed, only to find that there'd been a break in, Luckily no Stock had been taken, ONLY my prize MOJO was missing. so I came out, phoned the MOJO Police and haven't really been back in there since. As luck would have it a post from Rich, above gave me an idea, so I went out and opened the door an lo and behold there was my MOJO sitting on my workbench. So I got out my Tree making tub, (Ex LARGE Ice Cream Tub) and had a route around to see what I could find. Firstly I found a branch of a plastic Britain's Oak Tree. I then bent it so that the Branches would be away from the Back Scene. And then I Hot Glued it to the Back Scene, and added some foliage.
Andrew P
Whilst outside I decided to do The Harbourmasters Garden, (I really thought the lazy bu66er would have done it himself by now, it's been there a week), so with an off cut of Grass matting and a few bits of coloured Foam and a BODGIT SPLODGE of PVA its now all done, (the PVA is still wet so please KEEP OFF THE GRASS). Just 30 minutes work and another two jobs done. Edited June 12, 2016 by Andrew P
andyram
You had me worried there Andy. Thought you really had had a break in! Great work there Andy, it really improves the look of the fiddle yard entrance / exit. The garden looks fantastic too.
binny
Hi Bodge I think that you have come up with an RMWeb saying that will be remembered for years to come. ' A BODGIT SPLODGE OF PVA' Precious. binny

Andrew P
So, it's just the wall around the back of the Quay Stores to do now, (although maybe NOT today) and it's all finished, I may have a proper show style running session later, if I can muster up some more of that Mojo juice from the Fridge.
gismorail
Wow Andy like so many others I just can't keep up with your layout building projects but this one is a real CRACKER Was a bit worried about your mention of a 'break in' but you must understand that the rate you produce layouts even your MOJO needs to have a rest ...... Oh bye the way mines a '99' when your next down by the quayside and I trust it's Kelly's Cornish Ice cream
Andrew P
Last Thursday I went to the Patching Arts Festival at Nottingham, it's a 4 Day event and it looks like I went on the best day weather wise, a real refreshing change from a Model Railway Show. Great demonstrations, good traders with up to 30% off, (unlike most Railway Shows), Loads of seating and civilised as well, although with coffee at £1.80 a shot a little on the expensive side. Here's a few pics. Some of the Marquees. And the Jazz Band And one of the eating areas. And Artist Charles Evans doing one of the 4 Watercolour Demos he did during the Day, I went to 3 of them, all excellent, also a couple of pics of his Acrylic work as well. He's actually mad as a bunch of Frogs, so that really helped his presentations. And some other bits from around the Show. And these were all done in Pastel. Plus one in Pastel Pencils, far cleaner than ordinary Pastels. Plus some others. And how about this for a Pencil Sketch? Plus there were Craft Marquee's there as well, mainly for the women I felt.. Andrew P
Thanks Don, I never used to be so organised, now I have a draw / cupboard / shelf / hidey hole for everything,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,EXCEPT ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,the junk on my bench, to be fair its only little bits, like off cuts of plasticard that I'm loathed to throw away as one day I might need a bit of walling half inch long, or one side of a Peco Buffer, one day I might find the other side and a top, or the coffee stirrer that's covered in paint at each end, and now that its dry, it's re useable, so yes I'm organised, I know what's on my workbench, hahah This is what I mean. Andrew P
And so back to matters Railway related, as you will see over on Pencarne, I have a busy day ahead, I hope to fit in a running session on PM today and then once the final wall is done behind the Quay Stores I can move it out of the way at the end of the Old Potting Shed, ready for the next project. I started this back in early April, and I must say, it's been the hardest Layout I've ever had to build.Firstly the Quay, I've never done a Harbour before, but it's turned out rather well, even though I say so myself.Secondly disguising the Fiddle Yard, that's been trickier that I thought it would be, and is more exposed that originally planned, the back scene was going to come behind the Cottages and Fish Store to hide that bit of Track, but now I think it will work well enough.Thirdly the Dairy, although still not 100% happy with it, I will wait until I get the right idea and then re work it, its NOT stuck to the back scene and just PVAYED around the base so can be removed quite easily.Fourthly the Chapel, I had no idea what I was going to do in that area, but again using Trees and the off cut from Pencarne's St Andrews Church it's worked well.Lastly the Fish Store, that had to go in the end, it was troubling me every time I looked at it from the Goods Yard end. Oh and I forgot, adding the triangular extension was a bonus for the overall shape and feel. So about 3 2 (THANKS JAMES BELOW FOR PUTTING ME RIGHT) and a half Months and its job almost done. RMweb Gold jamest Posted June 14, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 14, 2016 Hi andy, Great job - I've enjoyed the progress and development of the layout. I make it 2 and a half months since early April though! That explains your progress though - you've had an extra month over the rest of us! All the best, James
