RMweb Premium Sasquatch Posted September 26, 2014 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted September 26, 2014 Hi Jaz. I seem to be experiencing some kind of modelers block. The modeling desk has never looked so tidy! Work wise there is plenty to do, we're putting in a new bathroom for a start and I've been making some stuff for neighbors besides a fair few furniture renovations. It has not been too hard on the hand! It could be that having spent all day making and fixing full scale stuff that my need to build something has been satisfied, so the modeling takes a back seat. However the track for Queensbury has arrived this morning. I'm looking in to the complicated electrical wiring for a double track triangle circuit with electrofrogs. Mind numbingly difficult!! There is also a bundle of plywood waiting!! It is not getting started until the Goathland extension has been finished. I have plans to build two more mills one of which will be derelict. There are 3 loco builds which I'm itching to do and a twin coach set ready to go. Another project is to construct a spray booth. ..................and hey. 1000 posts. A celebration should be in order. I have something special in mind, just waiting for the right moment. Sasquatch ....Overwhelmed
Andrew P
Absobloominlutely Shaun, 1000 posts sounds a big number and one to be very proud of, it just shows the following Goathland has on the Web because of your wonderful workmanship. emt_911
1000 posts and 50 followers, pretty good figures to my mind. Modellers block comes to everyone (except the Baron). It does come back sooner for some than others. Looking forward to the next 1000 posts. Duncan
Jock67B
Early good morning (at least here!) Shaun, 1000 posts - WOW! What a fantastic achievement, a real testament to your modelling skills mate! I am very keen to see the Goathland extension completed as the images of the baseboards have really teased us! Hope you feel up to it soon, but it does sound as if your life is pretty busy at the moment, Kind regards, Jock.
RMweb Premium Sasquatch Posted September 27, 2014 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted September 27, 2014 AAArrrghh. waited all day for the sun to come round for a picture that took a while to set up then the bl00dy batteries ran out in the camera. By the time I get to the store and back the sun will have gone. There are only 2 batteries left in the wii. (rant over). Hi Jock you're an early bird. It's like 2am in Essex init? I know because my brother and sister live in Chelmsford and mum n' dad live in Romford You guys will have to be patient I'm afraid. Time for a cold beer to go with the Chicken Tikka Masala and garlic naan we got cooking. It's a lovely evening here .
RMweb Premium Sasquatch Posted October 10, 2014 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted October 10, 2014 It's been two weeks since my last post. So where's old sasquatch been hiding? Truth is he's been lurking on other threads looking for his lost mojo! Actually there's quite a lot going on around here lately. Fall for a start, the cool weather makes the grass grow and leaves fall which creates work. As for work there seems to be a fair bit coming my way too and not a problem as I went to see a hand specialist last week who said there is nothing he can do for my hand and to carry on as normal. The trigger finger has totally gone away. Now I was reading todays posts over on Arboretum Valley and realized that I have just too many projects on the go. This has been holding me back because I don't know where to start. The solution it would seem is to stop being a procrastinating numpty and knuckle down and get some stuff done! What ever takes my mood!! First job tidy up. Get the track down on the Goathland extension and redo the scenery around the tunnel. Then make a start on Queensbury. Mrs. S. gifted me with a nice bundle of code 75 points and rail for my birthday this week. I've been taking stock of what else I have to build this layout: Plenty of 1/2" plywood, large stack of foam board, box of decent relays, plenty of wire, several boxes of scenic materials and 8 point motors. I still need to buy some casting plastic and RV rubber molding compound, 6 more point motors and some of those code75-100 rail joiners. Here's a small list of problems holding me back. I need to move the door to the garage. Build a temporary wall behind the garage doors. This is my father-in-laws idea to seal the room without pay more taxes! Next problem is the fancy footbridge railings at Queensbury. D&S once did a GNR footbridge kit. These are as rare as Big Foot and I'll be needing two!!! Enough waffle here's 60161 North British posing as Tornado heading south through Goathland with the NYMR teak rake.

RMweb Premium Sasquatch Posted October 10, 2014 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted October 10, 2014 Hi Shaun, I thought Mojo Hunting had been banned in Oregon, hahhahha. Glad you've found it mate and then produced some inspirational pics for our pleasure, and yes just what IS that Sheep up to? They haven't banned hunting anything in Oregon Andy. It's possible to get a bear permit and with good reason, when walking the dogs about 3 miles away up some overgrown logging road there was fresh bear scat all along the path. The last thing I'd ever want to do is shoot anything (except the dammed gofers) but heaven forbid if one decided to attack it would be good night Sasquatch. Looking forward to the changes. Duncan (Ducking) Knew it was around somewhere so had to go track it down, (in true Oregon stile with a camper and trailer complete with quad and mounted automatic weapon, 10 cases of beer, 6 pals, full woodland camo outfit and hunting knife)! Finally found it lurking somewhere obvious and grabbed it by the horns. It's now been mounted on a plaque above the train room door with the inscription .........................................est vita brevissimus...................... emt_911
One does hope ones Latin is correct otherwise it's a shameful waste of Brazilian bastard mahogany! Ones Latin is no existent. Wouldn't have a clue so I Googled it. I hope you want it to say 'Life is Short'. (You already knew that anyway). Otherwise I agree about the waste of wood. RMweb Premium Sasquatch Posted October 11, 2014 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted October 11, 2014 The deer here are akin to rats. A real pest. More humans are killed by deer in road accidents than deer hunted by humans! They also eat all your garden plants and veg! One rather large male keeps upsetting our dogs in the middle of the night , who wake us up. I even saw one walking down Ashland main street one afternoon holding up all the traffic. They even disrupt traffic in Pottyshire. They're not as bad as the mountain sheep though. 7
RMweb Premium Sasquatch Posted October 12, 2014 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted October 12, 2014 So what's old Sasquatch been up to this week?Inspired by other great modelers I dug out the textile mill and got on with its roof. The inspiration for this model came from the late Dave "Tetleys" Shakespear who I know would have liked to have seen it finished, so I'm thinking of naming it somehow in his honor. Any suggestions welcome.
RMweb Gold Alister_G Posted October 12, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 12, 2014 That's looking great, Shaun, a really superb bit of modelling, and I love the idea of making it a tribute to Dave. Just a thought, but he often used to sign off his thread with (something) of Ancaster. It wouldn't be prototypically correct of course, as there were no mills in that village, but you could call it Ancaster Mill, or something similar.
