I have a friendly, outgoing American country girl in mind, as the ideal occupant?

I think I have been inspired by this discussion to identify an important unfulfilled niche market, the model railway au pair. This is where a tall, young, blonde and beautiful Swedish girl stays in your spare bedroom, dusting your layout, keeping the track clean and all the electrical connections etc in tip top order for when you want to use it!

Alternatively it could just be that I've reached a difficult age.

Wishful thinking?

I k now that  would not get approval. Mind you Marion isn't keen on visitors. We do have a fold up bed for possible visitor use. Not sure if if is uncomfortable enough to keep any stay short.

Should one want to have staying visitors (grandchildren?) the best idea if to have the layout at as high enough height to allow dual use.  Perhaps a roll out futon would be the answer.

I could probably manage a Fat Controller look, but I'd miss my hair too much!

Surely better to stick to the ur-stories and be a Fat Director!

(If you can afford his tailor to carry the look off...)

It's the boots. 😱🤣

They look more like button up leather gaiters and stout shoes, rather than actual boots.

I think this young ladies leg wear has been discussed before, if not here, then elsewhere (probably in allied Pregrouping topics...).

Can you imagine casual spectators being allowed so close to a live steam boiler today?

Yes. Happens at steam heritage railways all the time. 😉🙂

....but I think you mean being allowed so close to one that's crashed. 👍

Err... yes, that was what I meant to say.

However much they might look like Jenny A in knee boots and what appears to be a Soviet General's cap.

Gosh!

Well, this museum-preserved uniform really brings those B&W pictures to life. I particularly like the lighter blue piped Polish cuffs, which are clearly seen on the right arm of the Guard below.

It really is an exceptionally nice uniform and it's definitely a good thing that one has survived and been preserved.

There's a modeller who wears a red hat at exhibitions, for easy identification. Whilst unmistakable to those of us following this thread, don't you think wearing this outfit at shows might be going a bit too far...??!! 😉🤣🤣
