RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted October 22, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted October 22, 2021 (edited) Still not quite happy with the colours so might do another dark wash to pick out the cracks as it’s dry stone walling. I’ve also started on the station and level crossing with the mini loop. Edited April 24, 2022 by PaulRhB 12 1
RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted October 23, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted October 23, 2021 (edited) A bit of basic ground cover and another wash to darken some ‘flat’ areas in the stonework. Edited April 24, 2022 by PaulRhB 16

RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted October 28, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted October 28, 2021 Moving onto the station for now I’ve swapped the order of Penrhyn(ish) and the level crossing round and put them next to each other. A quick mock-up The road climbs up at the back following the wall.

RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted March 18, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted March 18, 2022 (edited) With the impending Englands I thought I ought to get on with things FR! I was having trouble bending the foam for the walls without creasing it so I hit upon the idea of laminating two 2ish mm strips together. I was having trouble bending the foam for the walls without creasing it so I hit upon the idea of laminating two 2ish mm strips together. Two thin sheets in the foreground and the pegs hold it together while it dries. Then all the walls are scribed with a pencil. Straight sections are 4-5mm thick strips of foam. RMweb Gold Popular Post PaulRhB Posted December 4, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted December 4, 2022 Well it’s been quiet but yesterday I took delivery of the new superpower. It’s a Paul Windle build on a Farish outside frame 08 with Roco valve gear. Painted by Tim Couling and the others below are Tim’s batch for his Clyre Valley Rly 17

Oh yes, he’s not taking general orders these days but still building what he fancies and these have been in gestation since the late 90’s. Tim’s known Paul for many years and he was up for the idea 😉 These were two of the ideas I drew up in the late 90’s when we were still considering ideas This is what I drew up from his sketches andTim has built and is out on the circuit, also it was in the April 2020 RM. The next stage, Bodmin, I’m drawing up currently as his plans evolve 😉 Edited December 5, 2022 by PaulRhB 10

You do, Tim brought all his coaches but only those three fitted as Kevin has built Bratton Flemings bridge to absolute scale so his larger girth coaches didn’t fit! The layout consisted of modules from three of us. Bratton Fleming on the right is Kevin’s, the halt and Mill with the green fascia are Tim’s and the junction and two other stations are mine. 11
RMweb Premium Claude_Dreyfus Posted October 8, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 8, 2023 A very attractive and interesting layout. 009 is a bit of a guilty pleasure at our club with a few members who have an interest - it was certainly a popular model with our Fareham show contingent! A few pictures... It was good to talk to you. 9

Sounds like Freem009 needs a minimum structure gauge too! And/or a maximum vehicle gauge. :-) Paul. We have one, it’s based on ‘Victoria’, (Julien Webb’s Mdc 2-8-0), but it appears the slightly flatter roof profile of Tim’s recently built coaches are wider at the extremes. To be fair the Clyre Valley stock is built more to 2’6” dimensions so is big anyway as you can see from this pic. To get the look Tim has taken several standard 009 kits and widened them by 2mm and the coaches are built to the same dimensions. Once you add duckets, lamps etc their ‘dynamic’ gauge, (wobble as it moves), is right at the limit of the envelope on a curve. They just randomly caught, the other two bridges were ok as they are on straight track or the bigger radius curve. 5
