RMweb Gold Popular Post Rowsley17D Posted December 8, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted December 8, 2022 A brief health update for those who follow such things. I saw the liver consultant today following the ending of the chemo. He said while a op was possible, since the cancer is in a couple of lymph nodes although much reduced like the tumour in the liver, the chance of cancer returning was 80% plus the op itself would be quite major. Had there not been cancer in the lymph nodes the odds were 50%. The other options were continued chemo or do nothing. My gut reaction would be to have more chemo. Another scan is in the offing and an appointment with the oncologist awaits.
RMweb Gold Popular Post Rowsley17D Posted December 14, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted December 14, 2022 In the absence of scans and consultant appointments I adapted the Scalescenes' kit Low Relief House Fronts & Shops to make an even narrower building to fit the backscene. They are the ones behind the goods yard office. Now I know how to modify the kit, I'll build a couple more perhaps with unmodified houses to break up the shops.

RMweb Gold Rowsley17D Posted December 29, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted December 29, 2022 (edited) The next set of a house and shop has been finished save for chimney pots. Here it is in the second photo next to its deeper cousin from which it is derived. There may be a break from shop/house building as there are 101 other things needing attention on the layout before the second round of chemo starts in mid-January. I opted for this as it doesn't preclude an op at a later date which only has a 1 in 5 chance of seeing the cancer not return. Harry Lund
Happy New Year Jonathan. I've been following your thread for a couple of years now. Wonderful modelling and a great credit to you. Giles
RMweb Gold Popular Post Rowsley17D Posted January 31, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted January 31, 2023 Quite a while since I posted on my thread. I've got a new lap top, so have been arranging files etc. I've also got some Velcro in order to hopefully attached the backscene to the backboard better. It will mean taking the buildings off the layout so they don't get damaged. So some photos before I do. One set of signals has had the spectacles painted white. On the health front, as my condition has been stable since October with a scan showing no changes at Christmas my oncologist said further chemo was not needed. I am to be scanned every 3 months to monitor the situation and already have my appointments for a CT and a chat with the oncologist already arranged for March and the beginning of April. 23

Middlepeak
Congratulations Jonathan, that's a very welcome piece of news. I look forward to seeing further progress on the town scene. Are there any outstanding projects on the rolling stock for the layout? Geraint

There's always something to do on the rolling stock side of things. Several wagons to finish. Four locos requiring attention and the coaching stock needs sorting out as I have far too many for my needs. I've even put my two Larry Goddard coaches up for offers on "Classifieds" as the 4-4-0s struggle with them - no takers yet so may go on the Bay.
