Iain Popplewell
I never compromise in my modelling it's perfect. Within the limits of my technical ability and willingness to correct cockups that is. ( Iain Popplewell is currently building the layout of his dreams, 00, 18 inch minimum curves, tension locks, severe gradients, accurate scale model of North Skelton iron mine circa 1900. kitbuilt loco's in fictitious liveries. The layout is riddled with compromises and inconsistencies but it makes sense to him.) The one compromise I will not make is to allow myself to be coerced into allowing my layout to become a copycat version of some one else's idea of what a layout should be. It's my layout and that's all that counts. If my layout is ever finished, and it's a big if,and I can look at it and think, My God I made a good job of that, that'll do for me.
Il Grifone
I forgpt to mention travesties of M. Walschaerts valve gear (for example with the return crank at the wrong angle and/or vital bits missing). I don't expect it do actually 'change gear' though it would be nice (it has been done).
