RMweb Gold TravisM Posted September 4, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 4, 2019 (edited) I’ve noticed on RealTime Trains, that there is a path on Saturday the 7th from Norwich to Carlisle, departing at 04.25. Is that the short set heading back north as I can’t find anything about it being a charter? Edited September 4, 2019 by jools1959

Pete 75C
A couple of folk posting to a local Sheringham facebook group spotted a 755 at Sheringham yesterday morning. They thought it was in service, but the timing was 15 mins behind the timetabled train, so it was obviously on test and the 755 would have waited at Cromer for the timetabled Sprinter. I'm only aware of one previous visit to Sheringham of a bi-mode, so here's hoping timetabled introduction is on the horizon.
Suzie
Saw something new looking heading north from Witham this morning very slowly - presumably a new delivery in the loop.

What time, was still in bed when I heard a diesel blasting further up the line without the usual container train racket behind it. Got to the window to see a Flirt marked 'Stansted Express' flying past, presumably with a 66 on the front. It was the 503A 0343 from Ripple Lane to Crown Point with another delivery. https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/H12009/2019/09/05/advanced

RMweb Gold beast66606 Posted September 5, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 5, 2019 Because of the lack of storage space at Norwich and the MNR* the newly arrived 745103 was taken to Harwich for warm store * remember Crown Point is still maintaining the old units and stock so there are bound to be capacity issues. Siggie in the east
I hope they have security down at Harwich to keep them safe. The sidings there are completely open and access can easily be found at night under cover of darkness.
Covkid
I notice in "Beast's" piccies that the pantographs are down on the 755s. Are they allowed to use them on AC yet ?

Yes Phil, they have been tested and are still testing on the overheads, quite often they switch during an out and back run so one way is diesel and the other on the sparkies. 1

RMweb Gold beast66606 Posted September 9, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 9, 2019 Picked up a few more Flirt shots on Saturday, we had to go shopping in Norwich and I suggested the Mrs and daughter might like a visit to Riverside and I would head off to the station "just to kill time" 07 September 2019 Headed out for Duchess of Sutherland hauling a special to Chester but it had failed so 47802 did the honours but while I was out. Eccles Road 755413 on 2K58, 07:01, Cambridge - Norwich (08:30) - stopper 755418 on 1K61, 07:40, Norwich - Cambridge (08:56) Then it was off to Norwich New Trains are here proclaims the flag - 156417 was no doubt chuffed with it's new status Gratuitous short set photo 37409, Lord Hinton, and 37424/37558, Avro Vulcan XH558, stabled on the short set 9521, 5937 and 5919 755422 on 5Q64, 10:32, Lowestoft - Norwich T.C. T.&R.S.M.D - Norwich (11:21) - ECS - formed 1K73, 11:40, Norwich - Cambridge (12:56) Couple of shots inside 755409, I was struggling with cameras and some bags so just grabbed a couple of quickies. The higher level seats over the bogies look weird. 755413 on 1K66, 10:09, Cambridge - Norwich (11:30) - set swapped at Norwich (for 755409) That strange Thunderbird loco ? - with the aid of a set of steps I'd "accidentally" put in the back of the Mrs' car.

And 0735 Smk- Lst caped again meaning a wedged 0745 153 in the opposite direction. It's not been a great fortnight for AGA what with bridge strikes, signalling problems etc, though to be fair to them traction issues are rarely the problem, it's usually an infrastructure or human spanner in the works. I couldn't help thinking of all that shiny new kit in sidings as I sardined my way to Needham though...sigh. C6T. Not the only cancellation this morning - and the short set is out covering for a unit. The latest (unofficial but from a good source) date before the 37s go off hire is 21 Sept. Pete 75C
"Hi GA. Can we have those nice new longer trains at our nice new longer platform at Sheringham some time soon, please?" 1940s weekend in Sheringham. It's not a one-off, it's every 3rd weekend in September and has been for years. The event gets bigger each year and I have NEVER seen so many people in town as I saw yesterday. Combined with the football, I'm genuinely curious to know who at GA thinks a 153 is sufficient? Also, due to late running, a Norwich to Sheringham train was terminated at Cromer and didn't even make it to Sheringham. I'm not one for moaning, but come on GA. Finger out please. 2
