RMweb Premium Popular Post Temeraire Posted June 11, 2023 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted June 11, 2023 (edited) Afternoon all Time for an update as I've actually been doing a bit! As I previously said I decided to site the original but revamped Industrial units from Exford behind the station and here we can see the fencing contractors have put up the posts. The wires have been added and a bit of rusting and weathering done ready for the mesh to be added which I had cut and weathered at this point, and gravel added. Once the mesh was fitted I started on the 'bushery' along the top of the retaining wall. Now the fencing was completed, I could finish off the tree lined embankment to meet up with it and complete the scene for now. A final view looking back along the embankment. So a bit more done and further work has since happened around the station and I'll post some pics once there's more to show. The depth and range of colours just fits together so nicely: the deeper greens of the shrubbery on the embankment to the lighter greens of the weeds between the lines. Very nice sir. Rich Thank you Rich but it's all by accident really, I just chuck different Woodland Scenics scatter around and hope the result looks ok! The bushes that appear darker is where I've used I think grass green scatter over polyfibre and secured it with cheap hairspray which seems to make it darker.

chriscleveland
Good catch up yesterday with everyone and thank you for having me round. Couple of photos of the layout. The layout is coming on nicely! Here’s a couple pictures of photos I took when playing trains. 18

TT100 Diesels
I have been enjoying this thread, some very well observed modelling and some cracking T&RS weathering, I particularly like the 59 and 47 back up on page 12. But for me, the absolute signature stand out feature of this layout are the reddy brown ish bare areas of the bank sides, with patches of undergrowth in between. I don't know if it is representing sandstone or crumbly clay / shale? But it looks like you have copied this topographical feature from a real place. It is top notch scenic modeling to me. 3

The backdrop is modelled on the real cliffs along the seawall at Dawlish as I wanted this feature at the far end of the shed to place the layout immediately. Having made several visits to Dawlish and taken lots of pics (which I can't find now) I tried to copy some of the features of the real cliffs on the layout but just bending them around the curve. I also picked up some of the soil from the cliffs and to help with the colouring of them by using it on the exposed areas. Originally I wanted the seawall as well but couldn't fit it in and make the layout work, so this is a compromise but hopefully still gives the feel of the real place. TT100 Diesels
Ahh, that makes perfect sense to me now, and such an iconic stretch of railway to boot. Still, its a fantastic pieces of observational modelling, and real soil as well. What's not to like. 1 2
RMweb Premium Popular Post Temeraire Posted August 9, 2023 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted August 9, 2023 (edited) Evening all Yet again there's a two month gap between updates! 🙄 Some more progress around the station although not a great a deal. First I put together four Wills Canopy kits. Once all four were painted they were then weathered and here the first one is done compared to the 'clean' one. All four completed and in their final position on the platforms, viewed here from track level. An aerial view showing the weathered roofs and the added 'moss'. This evening I added platform lights that again have been painted over the last couple of days but I forgot to take a pic of them. Once the lamps were in place tonight I thought I deserved to play trains for a bit, here 47701 heads through towards the junction. A short while later 50031 Hood approaches from the other direction with a Waterloo service. Perfect timing catches 'Ted' & Temeraire passing through and you can see a couple of the platform lamps. Cheers Graham I probably will add subtle lighting under the canopies at some point as it is a bit dark under there. The platform lamps just need connecting to a supply as they are working ones. 😉

RMweb Premium Popular Post Temeraire Posted October 13, 2023 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 13, 2023 (edited) Morning all Its been a while again and not a lot has happened but I finally took a lot of video clips off my phone and compiled them into another YouTube compilation, the first for around a year! The clips are from Feb 23 to Aug 23 and are in chronological order so you can see the changes to background (only small changes!) as the video runs.
