RMweb Premium SJR Posted October 5, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 5, 2019 Thanks for the video Fran, the Deltic looks superb. My Southern Region layout doesn't justify a Deltic so Rule 1 definitely applies. Green SYP version on order. Cheers Simon

Lots to be happy about, especially shape, and a list of minor corrections too, which we are working on and sorted by China in the coming weeks. But overall, very positive. For the full story check out our latest blog post, where we talk about what's right, what's currently wrong, and for some nice pics. In the meantime here is a video of it in action on our office layout! https://accurascale.co.uk/blogs/news/deltic-engineering-prototype-breaks-cover Cheers, Fran From a person who isn't a huge fan of the Deltics at all, I must say I am really impressed. I found myself turning up the volume to 100% only to realize that the sound you'd hear was the wheels on the track and that's about it. The motor is really quiet. You've made a person who didn't really like Deltics, admire it. Whilst not a Deltic, I'm extremely glad that I pre-ordered a Class 92 from you'll. Really looking forward to more progress. Hopefully some day I can get a Deltic too, atleast for the showcase. 1

atom3624
Was the apparent judderiness when moving slowly more a function of the video quality or was it a 'gear thing'? I've no doubt if it was actual, it will be resolved by production, just curious. Al.

The buzzing in the background are the point motors. Cheers! Fran

Why not, since moving to Cornwall I have changed from a lifelong ER fan (and having collected tons of ER diesels & kettles) I have at last given in and decided to build.....drum roll....... a WR branch line, it had to happen.......I got fed up waiting for interesting “different” ER stuff*.......but this Deltic will certainly be running on my WR branch line.......oh yes, this fat controller doesn’t give a fig, if it looks and is this good I am having it! *and now it comes along in bucket loads, J15 J27 J72 Claud Hamilton etc etc Edited October 5, 2019 by boxbrownie

atom3624
.... and read some of the fabled stories from genuine drivers of these beasts!!! Going WR ... you can still bring the HST over there. I remember seeing 50's in Newquay, and certainly a HST or 3 in Torquay and Weymouth - did they reach Newquay? Al.

Indeed, I have been on many with my Uncle who was a top link driver at the + .......although he always said he was really an A4 man...... HST is going to be a bit (very) out of place as I am building a variation of Bredon layout, it would be not so much a Tail Chaser as a Tail Catcher Edited October 5, 2019 by boxbrownie

Hitchin Junction
Coincidentally, my Airfix kit version Deltic just arrived today, but it's only an excuse to work on power truck design ;) Grinding off the raised side striping would be too much work. . .
