RMweb Gold Adrian Stevenson Posted February 27, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted February 27, 2022 (edited) One step forward with handrails MkII now with curved ends. But not happy with the decals. This is despite being seated on a gloss surface and using Mircro Sol and Micro Set, there was some silvering to the carrier film. So I have removed them. I will see if Steve at Railtec has a set. Cheers, Ade. Edited April 3, 2022 by Adrian Stevenson Replacing missing photos 16

Railtec transfers are definitely the best I’ve used Just don’t use Microsol or Microset on railtec transfers, I found out the hard way…..I really should read the instructions first 1

Just out of interest how did you remove them if already sealed? I want to move the Railtec totems I put on my pannier as I've discovered St Blazey had them in a different position to the photo I'd originally worked from. They have been on a while so the varnish will be properly set and I was going to basically polish them off with 2000 grade wet and dry.

RMweb Gold Popular Post Adrian Stevenson Posted March 16, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted March 16, 2022 (edited) Hi Guys, not added an update for a few weeks. I went to Kettering show the other week. Sadly do not stay as long as planned as I had some sad news that my Dad's neighbour had passed away, so came home early. I had known her all my life. I purchased a laser cut weighbridge from Intentio, which is the correct Poole type for the one at Malmesbury post 1936. Got this painted and mounted on some cork as it needs to sit a little higher than the road. The weighbridge was protected by a guard rail made from old track. So I have soldered one together from a spare bit of track. The baseboard will be drilled and this inserted to the correct height. Intentio also do a GWR wooden hut which is similar to the weighbridge office at Malmesbury. But it would require some mods. Phil at Intentio said he could do this as a custom kit for me (Door on the opposite end, no end window, slate roof not tin etc) So this is now on order. Next to the weighbridge was a longer wooden building which was used as coal merchants office. The coal merchants changed hands several times over the years. For a short period in the early 30's there was an additional wooden shed to the right of the weighbridge office. I had not really planned on modelling all these buildings due to the width of the baseboard. So I am adding an extra 6 inches to baseboard two to accommodate these buildings. The photos just show it near the Pannier tank to show the size. Another development is I have ordered a 5 foot long traverser from Tricky of this parish. I met Richard at Kettering and I was impressed with the traverser which he offers. Richard has already started on this for me. This will have three roads. The centre road will be open and eventually the line will run through this and out into the garden. Cheers, Ade. RMweb Gold Adrian Stevenson Posted March 16, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted March 16, 2022 (edited) Here are some period photos showing the coal merchants offices/stores and the weighbridge office. Notice how the signs change over the years and the extra small shed which stood in the early 30's. The first pic was taken in the 1920's. The second in the early 1930's and the other two early post war. The shot taken from the aircraft was mid 1930's. You can see the coal offices were built up on sleepers as the ground fell away towards the river. RMweb Gold Adrian Stevenson Posted March 31, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted March 31, 2022 Nice to be back online. Was starting to get withdrawal symptoms. The kit arrived safely from Phil. Been working on this over the last week. Very pleased with it. The sides are all done and it is now sprayed up in grey primer. Got the roof to do now. Will add some pics over the weekend. The traverser from Tricky also arrived yesterday. Again will add pics this weekend. Cheers, Ade.

RMweb Gold Adrian Stevenson Posted April 3, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 3, 2022 Luckily I saved most of my photos onto my PC. Rebuilding the missing pics will take a lot of time though. Here are some new photos as promised. Firstly we have the weighbridge which is now glued in place and the guard rail fitted. Next we have the weighbridge office in primer. Each plank is separately applied. Finally the traverser rested on Patch’s bed to show where it will roughly sit. Got to buy the timber to build the baseboard it will sit on. Cheers, Ade.
RMweb Gold Adrian Stevenson Posted April 3, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 3, 2022 Found I actually had enough 9mm ply left over from doing the baseboards, so today I have cut this to size for the board for the traverser and for the extension to the front of the board to house the weighbridge office and coal merchants offices. Also got the first coat of paint on the weighbridge office. Cheers, Ade. 15

Simond
Given the apparent altitude of the bed, I do hope it's the cat's. It would suit a somewhat Dali-esque dog...

RMweb Gold Popular Post Adrian Stevenson Posted April 10, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted April 10, 2022 Back from the show at Statfold Barn. What a fantastic site. We took the van and made a weekend of it. With unlimited rides on the trains or tram it was great value for money. Certainly a venue we will return to. Bought another GWR container wagon. RMweb Gold Adrian Stevenson Posted April 10, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 10, 2022 Thanks David. They just need a light weathering now. I took a few pics of the locos at Statfold which can be seen in the exhibition’s forum. Cheers, Ade.
RMweb Gold Popular Post Adrian Stevenson Posted April 23, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted April 23, 2022 Hi Guys, nothing done on the layout due to catching Covid. Came via Lez as it is rife at her workplace. We had both had three jabs. Over it now but feeling very tired and run down. Annoyed at having it given how careful we had been over the last two years. Cheers, Ade. 1
David Bell
Main thing is you are both recovering. Onward and upward! 2 1
davefromacrossthepond
My wife had it a month ago after having all three shots. Fatigue for a few days and headaches. But that sure beats being on a ventilator or worse so we are both pretty happy about the outcome. Glad to hear you are both recovering. 1
Andrew P
WOW Ade, what a bummer mate, hope your both over it fully soon and no long term effects.👍 1
