danstercivicman
Tonight Stranraer had Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers... I’ve been building the final point rodding parts... The Harbour is really busy with a Newcastle service ready to depart. It’s taking some fish vans to Carlisle. Unsure why but it is
danstercivicman
Not much happening today. It’s very cold and windy. The Newcastle departs...
danstercivicman
More undertakings at the Pier End. Some dioramas/cameos are developing. I am not too keen on the Dock crane but it will do for the minute. The ex-RAF crane is the conflat crane and as per recent photographs I have come across the Station Harbour was a busy place! danstercivicman
I’ve started to paint the dockside areas with Woodland Scenic Concrete. I still need to add the black lines for the concrete joins but I’m unsure what I think regarding the colour. It will be toned down and the dockside still needs the bolsters/pillars adding.

RMweb Premium Legend Posted March 12, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 12, 2020 Western SMT had two colours of bus . Black and White was long distance or express services and Red Cream was the local service bus . Both would have been seen at Stranraer . I only remember Alexander Y Types which were after these , possibly early 70s rather than 60s .

I will look out for a red one Edited March 12, 2020 by danstercivicman
danstercivicman
Today I’ve only managed to paint the buffers with a first coat of white paint. A photo I have found shows then to be white (with rust)... The commercial fleet has grown

RMweb Gold 5BarVT Posted March 15, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 15, 2020 Understand your dilemma. I think that where big boats (ships) are involved the double ones are more common. It allows a looping figure of 8 to hold the ropes tight once docked. Only based on memories of CalMac ferries so could be completely wrong. I think the ferry certainly classes as a fairly big boat
