I will dare to post on this subject, the three metal strips are there to support the grill slats due to vibration and to stop them falling apart as they are not steel like on the 25s

Indeed. I still maintain that the grills on the SLW Class 24, whilst not perfect, are not awful either and are a lot better than some of what had gone before.

Perhaps the issue with the original SLW rad grills may ? be that the "vertical bars" are on the outside face of the grille. whereas on the prototype these vertical bars appear to be on the "inside" face making them less prominent ?  It will be interesting to compare the revised rad grills on the forthcoming SLW models.

Nice picture where was it taken,   back to the model is it an easy job to back date it to the original of the class

   hence no roof codes.

I reckon that would take what's known as some modelling.  Cab roof dome, disc headcodes, battery box/ tank configuration...

The list starts there, I'm sure there are more, but at this point I'd be more interested in 'why' ?

Not much then,  why not unless there announcing a class 24/0 in the near future the old model needs

replacing, a better choice than this one there producing, or make both.

My point was meant ironically.  The SLW Class 24 is available now.
