I'll have a look, but I have 70+ items of Blackstone.

Edit: Now bought another two drop bottom gons and three tank cars.

Now ordered parts for building an oil transfer depot. Transfer to what you may well ask. But these things are best left unspoken.

Planning the depot at Ava City. I already have a turntable and water tower. I need some sort of coaling facility. Looking at the last 'picture of the month' has given me an idea.

I have had this for w hile, picked up from a second hand stall at an exhibition many moons ago.

Not too dissimilar, it's an LNER design I believe. Just the right size for the narrow gauge, the one with 493 would probably be used for standard gauge loco's as well as it's dual gauge track there.

You need this. The accompanying blurb is garbage. The Burnett & Clifton coal chute at Vance Junction was to coal locomotives, of course. Why would you propel cars up the slope to the back of the chute, just to dump it into other coal cars?

I have a kit for a coal drop. It's actually an Australian kit, but looks very similar to the one at Sargent.

Today I have been both shocked and stunned. My latest order from Foscale has arrived from America only 5 days after going into the system at Jewett City, Connecticut. It also beat the customs man.

Blackstone cars arrived from Hatton's today. Two of the tank cars need renumbering. Relatively simple job, as I just changed the last digit. Unfortunately, the San Juan decals I have are a slightly larger size, so a bit of weathering required.

Added some of my cats to this station. Kitt and Oreo are my present cats. I have another, but at present it is somewhere on the floor of the modelling room, having pinged off when seperating it from it's support frame.

TRhe cats are 3D prints, as is the fat bloke. The child is Woodland Scenics. The telephone is also a 3D print

Looking for inspiration for the oil facilities and found these pictures of the arrangement at Chama, NM.

Chama4p.jpg.b879fdd0adfaa6204379e34d9771b936.jpg

Looking at them, my earlier comment "Transfer to what you may well ask" now seem irrelevant, as there are no apparent tanks, so I presume it came/went by pipeline. The next thing was single, or double sided facility? Well, as I plan to adapt this Knightwing .

maintenance-walkway.jpg.e340d3850db8375eac9970befe7bf870.jpg

It has a railing on one side only, so there is my answer. The whole kit makes up it a length of 600mm, so I will be using  just half of it, about 3 car lengths and maybe a shorter one, two cars, in a siding I have in Lucyville.

Enough for now, must get ready for a trip with one of my neighbours to the Severn Valley Railway and a few beers of course.

Question in the HOn3 group revealed that oil was piped in from a GRAMPS oilfield a few miles from Chama. There were also some storage tanks, but a few blocks away from the depot. So as it isn't Chama, I will add some storage as well. And here Knightwing provides the kit.

I may have to change the steps and railings, but if they match those on the walkway, maybe not.

I have been working on the next scenic section of the layout. This will be where the main part of Ava City will go. Not trying to make it too hilly as I need flat areas for buildings, but I don't want it dead flat either.

Managed to get my hands on an Overland Models RGS Business car.

Wanted to get one of these for a long time now, but they are very rare indeed.

Originally maroon with gold lettering, the livery changed to Pullman green with white lettering in 1909, which is how it will be painted. At some point in it's history, it lost the name Edna and was just B-20. The yellow lettering is a modern affectation.

Here she is.

356226968_10163129915264012_4276734587033279873_n.jpg.ae13187d93f4b41e67ef73117da1a3e1.jpg

The interior is completely bare. So after asking in the RGS FB group about how it was laid out, I received this.

355745544_254338970541904_1767969908951522776_n.jpg.1eeb9510788826d7bd1a76eae24eac72.jpg

And I have managed to find a copy of the book it's in. I have decided to really go to town on the interior, despite the fact little will be seen. After finding and downloading pictures of it as it is today, I have ordered a few parts from Shapeways that are more likely to be seen, the rest will be plasticard. Interestingly, the toilet window is clear glass, so I suppose Otto Mears could keep an eye out on his empire while having a crap. I will do the 1925 interior.

Really chuffed to get hold of this. The last, and only, one I saw for sale went for $375. This was much, much less and only 45 minutes drive away.

At the Slim Gauge meet, I picked up these 3D printed coal gons for a fiver apiece.

356861026_10163140578914012_2542710557530213961_n.jpg.12b4bddd29d84eef9216779893723cc5.jpg

Sitting on Kadee 720 trucks, fitted with Kadee 705 couplers. The brake wheels are from 51L/Wizard. Lettering is for Bartholow Coal Company, a Fine Scale Miniatures kit I have. Had planned to letter them BCC, so I ordered some RAF letter and number sheets, but when they arrived I found there was no 'C's and only 4 'G's in each size, so had to adapt. They will be heavily weathered and a load added.

Picture of the month.

07jul.jpg.2a286707e23c28baeb4a8419f36e6310.jpg

RGS 461 (with 455 behind) at Ridgway, being prepped for a southbound freight to Rico.
August 31 1951. 74 in the background was originally a Colorado & Southern loco. 1951 was the last full year of operations on the 'Southern'.

473 has now had at least two hours on the rolling road. It will be out for a good run on the layout on Friday. Then back to the bench for couplings and coal. It will only have the barest of weathering.

And, despite the best efforts of UPS, I have the 3D printed parts for the business car interior, (and a few spares.)

Ever woken up in the night with something on your mind? We all have. Sometimes it because of major changes happening in our lives, sometimes it's silly things. Well, last night, for me, it was this.

IMR-Loco-19-20.jpg.84494f32b009549177d863671b380b7d.jpg

Don't know why it should be, but there it was. I now have a HO version in my basket at Shapeways while I mull it over. I must say it would look good in Rio Grande black and gold. An HOn3 chassis is available from Toma Modelworks in Japan. Next question is should I? Shouldn't I? Or will that keep me awake tonight?

Isn't that an ex-County Donegal, now Isle of Man Steam Railway, diesel railcar? A bit of a way from the D&RGW.  Long Live Rule 1.

(PS - how about doing one in a Galloping Goose kind of finish?)

(PPS - The Isle of Man was a favourite family holiday destination when I was young. If you want real authenticity, this railcar will have to emit huge amounts of black clag, make a noise like someone shaking a tin  bucket full of spanners, and be towed home by a steam engine).
