Torn-on-the-platform
Absolutely cracking layout in both eras. A great mix of stock with some great prototypes in there too!
RMweb Gold trw1089 Posted September 11, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 11, 2012 Great to see some new pics Robert, and a great variety of motive power too. I spy a nice looking Blue Pullman in the background there, what is its heritage? Cheers Tony

RMweb Gold trw1089 Posted September 21, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 21, 2012 Thanks for the info about the Blue Pullman Robert, that is some beautiful work. I must confess a hankering for the new Bachmann offering even though it won't really suit my layout. Cheers Tony
robertcwp
A few photos from today:When sorting through boxes of stock no longer in regular service, I found this railbus I built 25 years ago, so I gave it an outing. ginger j
That piccy of the railbus and the modern Bachmann seems rather cruel to me Good shots as usual otherwise
sammyboy
The station on your layout reminds me of Manchester Piccadilly with it's many terminal platforms under the vast roof and then at the side the couple of through platforms that take trains from Stockport to Oxford Road and beyond. robertcwp
The station on your layout reminds me of Manchester Piccadilly with it's many terminal platforms under the vast roof and then at the side the couple of through platforms that take trains from Stockport to Oxford Road and beyond. Manchester Piccadilly was one of the stations that inspired the track plan as a means of having two companies meeting and having a smallish through station alongside a large terminus. robertcwp
That piccy of the railbus and the modern Bachmann seems rather cruel to me Good shots as usual otherwise The Airfix (or was it Kitmaster?) kit must have come out well over 50 years ago. My one is the Dapol re-run of the kit from the 1980s with a chassis from the now-defunct Harrow Model Shop. The W&M railbus from Heljan looks rather better. robertcwp
Nice looking layout, any more updates? I was hoping for lots of running over the past couple of weeks whilst I was on leave but it was too hot in the railway room. Worse still, I could not open the windows and blinds to let some air in until after 2.30 pm so as to avoid direct sunlight on layout and trains. Even at 9 pm one evening last week it was still pretty warm in there. I intend taking a few photos this weekend before I move the layout into the transition to blue/grey. No further developments on the layout (for ages now) as too many other things in life have intervened. I busied myself for several days in between watching the golf on TV putting sprat & winkle couplings on wagons and adding details to the new blue diesels and DMUs that have accumulated over the past couple of years. They still need more work though.
sub39h
fan of the modern stuff myself, but either way my first reaction when seeing the station was "wow". well done!
robertcwp
Here are some photos from today: Bachmann Austerity - now one of the longest-serving steam models still in the active fleet: P1060892as by Robert Carroll, on Flickr One of the first batch of Bachmann Warships - D817. This batch sat too low on their bogies, hence the bar being more or less in line with the top of the buffers instead of the middle. It runs superbly so I'm not altering it: P1060891as by Robert Carroll, on Flickr An LMS Compound - this is a bit out of period for the layout as it is at present but if it doesn't have an outing now, it won't have one for a couple of years at the current rate of change: P1060890as by Robert Carroll, on Flickr Class 25s double-head an iron ore train, with brake tender: P1060887as by Robert Carroll, on Flickr One of the recent Bachmann 37s - headcode is York-Bournemouth via GC and the formation is correct for the train too, although in need of a set number on the BSKs (set 880): P1060886as by Robert Carroll, on Flickr Bachmann Blue Pullman passing the loco depot: P1060884as by Robert Carroll, on Flickr Bachmann have given us four types of DMU model in recent years but still we wait for a suburban unit! robertcwp
Almost forgot, the 8' 6" (ish) of walling at the back of the station is also new. That was the easy (if expensive) bit as it's Bachmann Scenecraft.
Removed a/c
Wow, that is a fair few sets you have used for the walling. Looks good though. Bridge is looking good as well, looking forward to seeing it finished.
robertcwp
Wow, that is a fair few sets you have used for the walling. Looks good though. Bridge is looking good as well, looking forward to seeing it finished. 8 sets, each of which gives two pieces of wall. It's out of stock at Bachmann and the 8 I have came from two different places. The bridge brickwork will need to be painted dark blue-grey to match. I need to build the rest of the bridge first though.
Peter Kazmierczak
Very nice Robert. The bridge breaks up the scene well and adds some height to a rather flat area.
