Popular Post doilum
Oliver.RIP Sadly, I have to report the death of Oliver the independent/feral Tom cat that has been part of our lives for the last eleven months or so. He first appeared within days of the passing of Guinness at the age of twenty, although I suspect he might have been sneaking in to clean the food bowls for some considerable time. He began to arrive in broad daylight and was not afraid to ask for more ( hence his name) but refused any physical contact with humans. Even pushing a saucer of best food into his two metre exclusion zone was met with hissing and spitting. During the winter he was often to be found in the armchair by the radiator through out the night leaving just before we started to move. In recent weeks his arthritic hips had started to slow him down and he had begun to spend much more time close to the house. Last night he was clearly unwell and we suspect suffered a heart attack before passing away in the kitchen. I had hoped that he would one day decide to retire and spend his final years as a house cat as he had always been very respectful to both property and our other cat Teaser. We took him down to the vet this morning just to check if he had been microchipped and all that remains is to take the unopened Amazon delivery of cat food to the food bank. Teaser is confused. She had a love / hate relationship with Oliver never missing a chance to spit at him or giving him a cheap shot whilst he was eating. Yet if he missed a few days she was clearly looking out for him and would often follow him up the garden. The vet confirmed that he was an entire male at least ten years old so we won't be surprised if son of Oliver turns up in the near future.
doilum
Sorry for the repeat post. A postscript to the story. My daughter's Facebook has been busy tonight. It appears that Oliver/Felix/__________ had at least three other regular feeders, one of whom managed to get close enough to frontline him on a regular basis. And yes, son of Oliver is now in the process of becoming their next cat once he has had a little visit to the vet. 4 1 3

She's gorgeous! Btw, that wagon is off mate, got that t-shirt! Why a railway layout is an acceptable bed to some mogs when there are, um, beds available is a mystery to me. Although he has help build the garden railway ! 20

Popular Post grahame
Tree cat. On the way back from the woods, after another walk with Marley, we encountered a loud quacking duck which Marley found quite disturbing. Firstly he hid in the bushes and then took the long way around it, eventually taking refuge on a tree until it flew off. Popular Post sparks
Station cat at the Eizan funicular, near Kyoto. After observing for a while and taking the photo I chanced the briefest of strokes - to be met with not even half a raised eyelid and complete indifference. Seen it all before!

RMweb Premium kevinlms Posted June 26, 2022 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 26, 2022 I was at a friends place the other day, I hadn't been there for a while and knew there were cats around, but only seen them at a distance. They belong to the lady he shares the house with. Anyway, while drinking coffee on the outside balcony, this cat comes up to me and scratches at my leg through my jeans, so sharp claws. So my mate comes and picks him up and takes him away and comes and sits down again. This time the cat comes back and jumps straight on my lap and stays there for about 3/4 hour getting the patting treatment, before deciding to leave. My mate says that the cat is 17 years old and has never done that before with strangers! Cats seem to be attracted to me like that, even if I've never met them before. I don't have a cat any more, because the council have a bye-law restricting them to your own property and it's too hard to build a sufficient fence. I kind of agree with the bye-law, because cats are notorious wildlife hunters, especially here in Australia as they are an introduced species and play havoc with native wildlife. 2
