Later on Raffertey, who was 9kg, was offered an alternative because of his weight - that certainly worked. George however was kept on the old type, which we then sourced online (without prescription by then). We pay about 1/2 the price that local pharmacies sell it now. Raffertey has sadly crossed the rainbow bridge. To the end he had to have expensive tablets to help him go to the loo, eyedrops available on prescription only, and normal (ie human) eyedrops, which are available over the counted. However, again we bought the latter online at vast savings. We have since gained a rescue kitten, he is now approaching 10 months, growing into a lovely cat. He too has the same flea treatment as George. That was a hard post to "rate", the heart for Rafferty or the clapping hands for the new kitten. The open book seemed the best solution to me. So, what is the kitten's name? Edited May 2 by J. S. Bach To edit the post
Michael Hodgson
10 hours ago, Captain Kernow said: One of the benefits of going through the vets for something like that is that you should be prescribed a product that is effective and not something that doesn't really work properly and which is bought from a non-specialist source. That's certainly our experience with regard to flea treatment. And anyway, our vets are really good, professional and kind and have helped us and our cats so many times, so I don't begrudge them their profit. Our cats shouldn't get fleas as they're house cats and mot allowed out, but we they do get regular flea treatment. If they do get fleas, it would no doubt be from the dogs, who have to be exercised regularly so they could pick something up on the Common. With 4 cats and 2 dogs, our vet bills are fairly high, although we get some of it refunded through insurance. Another bill this week as one of the dogs has been diagnosed with kidney trouble, will need to see the vet again in a couple of weeks time for more tests. We're stayed with a good vet that we've used for years although he moved to a practice in Littleport, so it's a bit of a trek. 2
bbishop
Some 50 years ago, we worked out a routine for taking the animals to the vet. We always took both cat and dog together. Harvey (the cat) hated being in a carrier so travelled loose in the car, sitting on the back ledge of the hatchback. He was carried into the waiting room and sat (purring) on a lap with Toddy (the dog) sitting on the floor in front. Into the surgery together, put on the couch, where one was the patient and the other the nurse. Neither was the least bit stressed. 1 1

Firstly, Rafferty. Sorely missed but we remember the good times. He never actually ever tried to leave the back garden, so we always knew he was safe. Absolute trust both ways, we could do anything with him, a true friend indeed. Rusty is the newbie. Found in the grounds of the local school, taken to the vet where a friend of my daughter worked. She called us and said do you want him (we weren't looking), Within a couple of hours he was 'home'. He was immediately attracted to us when we met, we couldn't say no. Apparently a couple has taken him but took him back to the vet because he wouldn't cuddle. Now he never leaves my side, yes he now trusts me, but I've never known a cat that continually plays like he does. We called him Rusty because his voice is like a rusty gate hinge! He has grown fast but is still a kitten though. Edited May 3 by stewartingram 18 1

Once when she was young, what harm can it do…. She immediately dropped to the floor from the back seat and the arms of my oldest daughter. Straight under the drivers seat and then under the peddles. I had to coast to a halt down a railway bridge and recover her. The only other time was her last journey anywhere. She was in my daughters arms and had no will to venture anywhere else. Popular Post Craigw
My gorgeous girl Amber passed away yesterday. I rescued her from our local pound in 2018. She was a hissing and very unfriendly girl and I fell in love with her. I called and told them I was on my way an hour before she was going to go for the green dream. The first couple of weeks resulted in spilt blood (mine) and then everything fell in place. She was my constant companion after that and most mornings I started the day with her cuddled up to my face. She was a tiny girl, but her presence was so much larger, and I really am going to miss her. Rest in peace Amber, I will see you on the flip side.
RMweb Premium Popular Post J. S. Bach Posted May 14 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 14 My eyes are a little moist after reading that. You gave her a good life for about six years, the same as my rescue Wingnut: She has been gone now for about two years and I still miss her. Another rescue, Raindrop has since moved in: 5
Craigw
Good on you Dave, rescues are the very best breed of all. There is nothing quite like the love you get in return for taking them in. Amber gave it to me in spades. Regards, Craig W 5 6 1
Hibelroad
I do the Cats Protection lottery but due to a change of bank account I have had to cancel the old DD and set up a new one. Yesterday I received two letters, one to say sorry you have left the lottery and another to say welcome to the lottery. Ummmm... I wonder if any physicist could explain how I am now both in and out of a cats lottery?? 😁
