Thanks for the offer, Dawnflyer/mrtee, but as this layout is 009, I won't be using tension lock couplings.

Also, as this layout is also a demonstration of Modulus, a new accessory control system I am involved with, the use of magnetic uncouplers would not be appropriate.

However, I wish you well with your venture.

Diagonal bracing?

Yes, although the 4 screws per batten seem to be holding it square so far.

Similarly there will be diagonal bracing between the legs, at the back, to keep things upright, but as the floor of the workshop is not level, these will be added once the frame is built and adjusted.

I'm also going to add a short section of frame at right angles at the left hand end. This will give space for another layout to be stored, and obviously provide a much stronger resistance to the whole lot falling over.

Track planning, using rolling stock & their boxes (as buildings).

Here, the train has arrived in the main loop line.

And it has now moved (with the track, strangely) in to the platform.

I think I can have a main loop of 36" (a full length of track), plus a little bit for the Shed point, and still have a long enough platform to fit a loco and two coaches.

The ends of both the Platform and the Headshunt will be under a covered awning, spanning both tracks. This will raise the scenery profile at the North end of the layout. The large stone warehouse (the only building still existing) will form the exit-view blocker at the South end, meeting the View of Thirds rule proposed by @James Hilton's dad in James' new book - Small Layout Design Handbook.

Along the back there may be other low warehouses or sheds of some description, possibly similar to the Treamble collection.

The first point and associated servo have been laid & tested.

Took about 20 mins, from drilling the first hole, trimming the sleepers, aligning the servo and setting the servo angles and speed .

PS - this layout is due to be shown at the Carn Brea exhibition in October, and should utilise the new Modulus control system.

What date is the Carn Brea exhibition please, I can't find any info on their Facebook page?

All 7 points are now in place,  and 5 are awaiting fitting of servos ( due tomorrow).

Once these are in and set up, I can fix the track down and start landscaping and decide on which buildings are required.

6 1/2 weeks to go to its debut at Carn Brea.

No pressure there then 😬........keep going, and good luck! 😀

 Plenty of time.

Just the groundworks, buildings, fascia, lighting, backscene, servos, control panel and detailing to do.

Ooooh, easy peasy then!

Now that I'm mobile again (previous car written off by deer......I used to like deer too.......🤬) hopefully I'll be able to come along and see how you got on in person, so to speak!

Well, this didn't get finished for Carn Brea, as I got side-tracked into building this layout for Warley instead, but, Newham will be at the Helston show in Pool Academy next April, then at the Member's Day in Taunton, and then at the Hayle show in May.

I'll be using this system for operational control:

I've put the three kits together to form one building.  The barn (left) has had the door widened and a window added, the outhouse (middle) will have the rear wall adapted to make a walk through ticket office, and the larger barn (right) will have a door fitted to the outhouse.
