Evening all.

Tomorrow may see a write up on Chippy Alley, subject to the paint drying and ungluing Spam's hand from the baseboard.

I thank you.

He's not protesting about diesel emissions again is he?

More likely something to do with Panniers.

You know how "anti-GWR/WR he is......despite that lovely GWR/WR BLT he's building...

Our last ( unless I've forgotten someone ) but by no means least layout is Fryers Lane from Mark.

Mark describes it thus;

"Fryers Lane owes its existence to the Scalefour Society’s Standard Gauge Workbench (SGW) initiative.  The rules of the SGW required the layout to have a scenic length less than 4’ 8 ½” (1435mm).   As originally built, the layout had a fiddle yard at either end and was (very loosely) based on Bloxwich, West Mids.

However, SWAG ’23 (hopefully) sees the unveiling of Fryers Lane in a new form with enlarged scenic area and an additional siding."

IMG-20230415-WA0006.jpg.299f6070af0f6fbbc62865472e839b31.jpg

Well, there has indeed been much tinkering carried out by Mark....assisted by Spams and it looks as if it's coming together very nicely indeed, in the true spirit of last minute pre-SWAG knock togethers. ( I may have done a few myself over the years )

Positively modern image in comparison to the other exhibits but please be careful if stopping to observe as the paint/glue may still be wet............

Oh.........Ahem............

There is also Lockdown Fen which has been elevated from a supporting role to that of a fully operating layout.

Built by Chris ( Gilbett) during "that year" it's another example of what can be accomplished in a small space and proves that any of us has room for an entertaining layout.

Another example of the Inglenook genre which Chris does so well. He'll be happy to explain it's "doings", including the card system he uses and will have examples of the couplings he is using and has trialed.

More photos on Chris's flickr feed here..

These will also show the construction of this charming little layout.

Will still be wet. No question about it.

Really looking forward to the event. (And the trip on the WSR, and the chips and cider, and the beers the night before, and the Sunday morning fry up)

I'll be using both Kadees and Sprat and Winkles so feel free to ask questions etc. LDF was designed for Kadees but I am experimenting with S&Ws for a future project.

Much Fettling in the Marsh.....

20230417_120022.jpg.2ff4ae3189ee3a18aa94f7e32cb36442.jpg

Having been out on tour with Blakey Rigg the Black Hawthorn is being re-acquainted with it's stablemates.

It does seem to have an issue with one of the connecting rods catching the motion plate at top dead centre and I'm not sure if I can pluck up the courage to tackle it today.

Hmm, spot of lunch first and have a think about it.

Otherwise, track cleaned, sundry scenic bits glued back on and all good to head (South) West on Sunday. 😎
