RMweb Gold NHY 581 Posted October 10, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 10, 2022 Evening, I'm trying to locate details of the colour scheme for SECR water cranes. Of all the pre-grouping Southern companies, information on SE&CR station colours and those of the fixtures and fittings seem a bit vague. I've looked at the Station Colours website but I'm struggling to find good examples. I have a plan B but I'd be grateful for any information. Rob. RMweb Premium Footy Posted November 10, 2022 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 10, 2022 I am a member of the SECR Society and despite the excellent resources available have also failed to answer the same question. From the very few period photos I've found, they seem to be one dark colour that looks to be dark grey / black but could be the reddish brown used by the SER and LCDR on its buildings. Unless I find evidence to the contrary, I'm going to use a very dark grey (like Maunsell wagon grey) but I'd be interested in hearing about your Plan B. 1
RMweb Gold NHY 581 Posted November 14, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted November 14, 2022 Thanks, Footy. I've been digging but not found much more than you. The dark grey seems like a plan but I also like the idea of overall red brown. Once I start building the layout, a small ( very ! ) BLT, Plan B resolves around the idea that the railway was an independent light railway, recently taken over by the SE&CR.....hence a bit of latitude regarding the paint scheme... Wickham Green too
Of course, being in Cardiff, you could use your local water tower as inspiration : - .... good job they painted it with a daff - a leek might have caused problems. 1 1
