The trouble is with RTR bogies is that they look nothing like the prototype once you're removed the body sitting on them:

West Hill do a OO Gauge Y25 which for a cosmetic item looks so much better than what actually runs under a model wagon.

BH Enterprises list the ex TPM Commonwealth bogie, but would imagine similar to a Farish rtr one

Could I just apologise to whoever runs the online shop. I thought the postage would be added to the cost after I had ticked the box but it didn’t resulting in an incorrect payment. Sorry it was my first online purchase and I didn’t realise I had to buy the postage separately. I promise to do better next time.

Also, just wondering how the refund of the cost of one when you buy 5 works?

All the same problem though. You need dedicated cosmetic bogies, as none of the model ones look anything like a real bogie when not under a wagon. Some OO gauge ones are getting better, but still tend to have a lot of material that isn’t actually there.

Yes of course it could be done, my point was just that listing bogies designed as functional items are unlikely to cut it. I’m not aware of any realistic, cosmetic bogies in N.

The running issue has been discussed at length over on the N Gauge Society Forum,  It seems that the brake rigging moulding which was fine on the EP samples was made thicker by the factory for the production versions which gives the dragging brake effect.  A little adjustment with a fine scalpel sorts it out though.

A minor issue on an otherwise excellent model.

My undecorated one is coming along nicely:

The double arrow is a tad too large and I may have to get creative with the Railtec Transfers sheet for the rest but so far, I am happy with it.

Development of the Cowans Sheldon hand crane continues.  Colour plates of the various liveries have been released and they are presented here for your perusal (Disclosure - As at April 2024, the latest delivery estimate is, unfortunately, 'Not before 2025'):

As ever, N Gauge Society products are only available to members.  To assist the Society in covering interim payments required by  the manufacturer in respect of setting-up and development costs, members are invited to indicate their choice of livery or liveries and to make a contribution towards the required payments in the sum of £15 per livery indicated.  On receipt of the models the Society will reserve the liveried models indicated and offer them for sale to the contributing members at a reduced price, which will equate to the general selling price per model, less £20 (i.e. less the £15 contribution plus an additional £5 discount). P&p will apply at the rate appropriate to the gross selling price at the time (i.e. before any deduction or discount).

Members wishing/prepared to partake of this arrangement can do so via the following link:

Examples of the NGS Exclusive Thompson BG Full brake continue to sell from the Society shop, and members are reminded that once stock is gone, it is unlikely that the society will take delivery of a further batch. A number of liveries have long since sold out, but the following remain in stock...for now:

NGSR0566 BR plain maroon era 5/6

NGSR0565 BR blue era 6/7

NGSR0563 BR plain crimson era 4

A similar situation applies to the exclusive Mk 1 CARFLAT, with the following representing the remaining stock:

NGSR0575 BR Carflat A BR bauxite B4 bogies (400Y)

NGSR0576 BR Carflat A Railease yellow (400Z)

TRANSFERS

The sorting and collating of the ex-Modelmaster transfers continues (it's a very big job!), however members may not be fully aware that some of these useful items are already available for purchase via the Society website.

The current stock can be found here:
