CSP49, GWR 2-4-0 River class kit

Having discovered CSP I fancy building the 4mm River class etched kit in P4.  I suspect this may be derived from the Peter K kit as listed in GWR.org.  The web site says ' Not for the faint hearted!' but having built his NLR 4-4-0 many years ago I think I could tackle it with confidence.  Just wondered if anyone has had experience of this kit?

I don't think it is the ex Peter K model.

 

I think it was one designed by Roger Slade before he died. There was a few "old" GWR types announced at the time such as an Armstrong Goods which haven't appeared (yet).

This may be the case although it seems strange for two kit designers to choose such an obscure prototype.  Perhaps the drawings were readily available!

 I talked with Roger Slade before he passed away about the River class. He did produce his own kit for it but it was only for him and some friends at the time. He had someone in Denmark (I think) who was doing the artwork for the Armstrong, Beyer and one other OF loco. That person passed away and I do not know if the artwork even went to CSP. I have the Peter K kit and it looks to be interesting. I am quite sure the CSP one will be the Roger Slade one though.

 

By the way, I learned to not tell Roger I was a P4 modeller !

Thanks for all this info - I would be pleased to hear from anyone that has ordered CSP49.....  However I plan to order it later in the year!

I have the Peter K version sitting in my pile of unmade kits. I suspect my executors will get to it before I do! It is supposed to be rather better than the usual run of his kits.
