RMweb Gold gwrrob Posted December 27, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 27, 2023 I see the tv advertised latest Hachette partwork has aired, for those with very deep pockets. Spread over 130 issues it will cost over 1400 sheets to complete. It does look rather nice though. Did anyone ever complete the Flying Scotsman partwork a few years back ? https://lancasterbomber.hachettepartworks.com/

Wheatley
£600 for the Wingnut/Border version, although you have to paint it yourself. It also has the advantage that you get all of it all at once, so if the supplier goes bust halfway through half the bits don't vanish. 1

It's never actually happened! You do realise that Hachette is a multi billion dollar publishing company that has been going since 1826. I don't think they are going bust anytime soon.... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hachette_(publisher) Some of the "collections" have finished early due to decline in interest, but I reckon that once you get past about fifty Formula One cars or Eddie Stobart trucks you do start getting bored with them anyway. Some people like the partwork idea as you don't have to fork out hundreds of pounds in one go and you also get very easy instructions that show you exactly how to do it. You also get all the tools, paints and materials to make it. My brother is doing one of those Warhammer things with his grandkids and it explains how to actually play the game in easy steps as well as painting figures and making dioramas. Looking at it and he's so far got about £100 worth of paint alone! Never did the Flying Scotsman or Mallard for the good reason they don't fit in with my O Gauge. Now if they had done a Duchess, Princess or Black Five I might have done. Jason
