I think because there’s no competition for the tender loco and for the tank loco, an example from that other railway might win and that would never do! RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted May 17, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 17, 2020 (edited) So I finally managed to force myself to switch the laptop off, and what do I find? We now have three or more polls going on at the same time. Who's going to sort that out then? EMUs please until the morning, then we'll see what's next. What's next at PN is the Talisman and Silver King. I had some more goes at that view looking back towards Crescent Bridge, looking for the optimum position for the loco on the curve. I don't think this is it. Of course it isn't.It is Wild Swan with a FO extra. Edited May 17, 2020 by great northern stupidity 19

RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted May 18, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 18, 2020 (edited) Two more shots of Wild Swan this morning, again trying to make use of opportunities at the South end. First one is from a different angle to the one I posted last night, and with the loco repositioned. Looks better to my eye, but what do others think? Then I took one through that gap between buildings. Now I shall try to make sense of polls. I may need the assistance of Mr Mortimore, who I happen to know is up early this morning. RMweb Premium great northern Posted May 18, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted May 18, 2020 Right, now I know very little about EMUs, but I think this was won by the 309 Clacton units, by one vote from Glasgow blue trains, which I have heard of. Today, I will formally declare the 2.6.2 poll open, for both tender and tank engines. Those who have done premature voting might like to vote again, as your previous efforts may soon be buried several pages back at the rate things are going. 1

RMweb Premium St Enodoc Posted May 18, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 18, 2020 I'll be contrary (what, me?) and pick the V4, if only because I rode behind one once. It was 3.5" gauge, on the North London SME's track at Colney Heath.
RMweb Premium Metropolitan H Posted May 18, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 18, 2020 (edited) For a tender loco it has to be the V2 - The V4 is quite charming, but doesn't have the powerful majesty of the larger Gresley 2-6-2. For the 2-6-2T it has to be a GWR 45xx "Small Praire" - With a tied 2nd place - GWR 61xx "Large Praire" and LNER V3 2-6-2T.
