iL Dottore
I like the way Bear, PhiljW and The Lurker are thinking. There’s definitely a role for these chaps in Captain Cynical’s organisation. The answers provided are - for the most part - correct. Question 3 I would argue is the box jellyfish as the stings are so agonising that you would spasm, go under and drown very quickly. As for 5), the trick question, if you knew about it then it wouldn’t be a perfect crime…. PhiljW is complaining that today’s quiz was too easy. Harrumph! I guess I’ll have to bring forward my next quiz (on musical instruments) and make it really hard! 13 1
RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted September 9, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted September 9, 2021 (edited) Mooring Awl, Inner Temple Hare, Finished the book I was reading, so went to sleep early, woken at 01:05 by some heavy hydraulically driven farm machinery going past.. Very hot, went downstairs to the sofa a bit cooler there, total sleep about 6 hours, but very broken up... The Book I was Reading? Richard the Turd Third.. A very detailed book, there can't be many countries in the world where they can tell you what a man eat (or was served to him) on a day 538 years ago.. Royal accounts and even City accounts from places like York and Southampton still hold a remarkable amount of information.. An Idea for Blue Moon's control panel just popped into brain, smaller lighter, much more elegant.. Plus an Idea to reduce my and the boats internal soggyness if it were raining during a race.. Now to try some scale drawings... Of scale, ordered some whisky barrels for something unmentionable.. They arrived well modelled BUT... A scale 2 foot high? So I've ordered some for the scale double the size, and they put some scale figures alongside showing them to be about 4ft high in that scale. Now that's the sort of thing I'm looking for.. Also arrived some windows for a building.. What can we see through the arched window today Children?... We can see..... a Still.. Now to work out where to put a little tray of cheap whisky and a small fan, we're going to have smelly vision on the unmentionable.. I'd love to be able to add the smell of peat fires... But not the rotting seaweed on the beach, nor the Heilan coos.. Now children, I've been informing spamming you about sailing, When some whisky is drunk I think a quiz might be in order to see who's been paying attention.. But first.. Time to measure another shunt, 2 already done this morning. Edited September 9, 2021 by TheQ 20

RMweb Premium New Haven Neil Posted September 9, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 9, 2021 Morning, and a dull but warm one it is, persisting down off and on, 18c, and a Fraggle at a bit of a loose end. This may mean housework....pah! A bit late on this morning too, but because I was distracted by a faceache link to this: John Miles being from my home town, and as confirmed by the album cover at the time, he used the same barber as me! 15
Popular Post AndrewC
Moaning all from the boring borough. le quiz 1: mozzers don't kill but certain plasmodiums carried by mozzers do. Malaria. 2: tax man, although Hollywood would say Sean Connery 3: Has to be shark for the raw entertainment value and victim's fear factor. The others while deadly would be boring to watch. 4: phaque pharma 5: Serco track & trace. Another day du merde yesterday (patented frenglish) I did manage one household honey do from my list between stupid meetings that overran my lunch break. The Cat6a cabling to the train shed (yes I said train, so awl me to death) has been upgraded, tested, and the junction outside the back door replaced with a better waterproof box. This is all in aid of running a 10Gbit backbone to each of the mesh routers. It will also allow me to take my office laptops and related stuff off wifi, freeing up capacity & therefore speed for the rest. Seems that DHL are in serious competition to be the most totally sh*t delivery service by giving yokel and herpes a run for their money. Monday 8am: out for delivery. 9 hours later: 'Unable to locate address'. Then: 'The recipient was not present' Next update: 'It was not possible to deliver the shipment. Checks are being made.' Still waiting for a response from the so called team. ar5ebadgering sh1tweasels. I believe the correct translation is driver running late and couldn't be arsed so put what ever excuse popped up first in his handheld device. No motion at the door from the Ring camera recorded within an hour of their supposed 'The recipient was not present' update. Much cooler this morning. Bit o rain overnight. Time to check the company email to see what steaming turds dropped in overnight. Enjoy the day. 3
RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted September 9, 2021 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted September 9, 2021 (edited) Good morning everyone It’s quite dull today, very overcast and very little sun shine to be seen. Breakfast has now been consumed and I’ll shortly set off to the big orange DIY shed for a couple of bags of mortar, which I will store in the shed until weekend when construction of the fireplace wall will continue. After that, I have no firm plans until after dinner, when Charlie will drop by for his weekly model making session and we will spend the afternoon in the workshop. So, what do I do in the intervening couple of hours, I shall have a play on the computer designing windows for the engine shed. I tried printing decals and applying them to thin acetate sheet, but the ink was very thin and see through and the decals wrinkled too. My plan is to print a tinted frame onto a self adhesive paper label and cut out the frames! Popular Post tigerburnie
Morning, very dark up here, no sign of any predicted thunder storms, but it does not look like a day for doing much, a visit to the surgery for my flu jab could just be the high light of the day. I do have wood to cut for the winter fires, but it's not a day for annoying the neighbours with a chainsaw, possibly a bit of time in the the old summer house playing and getting fishing gear prepared for a visit to the river Tay next week when I again will no doubt lose my battle of wits with a Salmon. Take care all and keep taking the tablets. 18
