I've not read the reviews, just looked at the star ratings. It's worth bearing in mind that people are far more likely to leave a bitchy review if they're p1ssed off that they are to leave a good review if they're a happy Bunny, which naturally slews reviews in the negative direction. https://www.toolstation.com/power-tools/saws/c722 HTH Bear My budget is certainly far less than what I can actually stretch to, but I always limit the amount I spend on tools that I want to try out, I don’t think it is wise to spend a lot of money getting a top of the line piece of kit that I end up using only once or twice a month or less. By buying a budget model, I can find out what my actual use is and then upgrade to a top quality model if usage is more than occasional. I understand that in the UK and in the US it is possible to rent heavy equipment on an as needed basis, this is relatively unknown in Switzerland. although there does seem to be a movement, on environmental grounds, to just that. That would certainly be the preferred option, in the absence of which buying a budget item to test out is probably the next best thing (especially as nowadays the cost of a budget item is probably equal to, if not less than, rental). Apparently, Einhell make the machinery for Lidl that Lidl sells as the Parkside range and the Parkside range is - overall - considered to be quite adequate. Einhell, Metabo, Scheppach, Makita and De Walt can all be acquired in Switzerland, although choice of available models is limited (as always seems to be the case in Switzerland). So now I am left facing a choice: do I buy on line - which will provide a wider range of equipment in my selected price range to choose from - or do I buy locally - with a more limited range but an easier “go back and bitch loudly” option (prices, at least at this level, are pretty comparable). Thanks for taking the time for providing your informed insight my Dear Bear - in the absence of a 3-D food printer a virtual crate of LDC is winging its way to you Edited February 18, 2022 by iL Dottore 15 1

In it's defence I'll add that it's pretty old, but I don't think being old is the cause of the problem per se…. I doubt that it’s the hardware - sounds like a software issue. As I was clearing and reorganising my workshop in the cellar, I came across the user manual for the old DELL desktop tower that now resides in the cellar workshop as the workshop PC. I knew the machine was old, but I hadn’t realised how old: I got it in 2003! A number of years ago, a friend of mine who is somewhat of a LINUX aficionado stripped the machine back to the BIOS and installed LINUX and the machine has been working flawlessly since then. Unfortunately, I’m a bit clueless when it comes to LINUX and so depend on my friend for the occasional LINUX upgrade and new hardware installation. Even back when I bought the Dell desktop in 2003, Microsoft Windows was known as “bloatware” by computer geeks, I doubt if it’s any better nowadays. 16
RMweb Premium Popular Post Barry O Posted February 18, 2022 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 18, 2022 Ey up! No Eunice here...yet! Flights have been cancelled from Leeds this afternoon as it is difficult to land here when it's windy. More paperwork bashing today to be followedby a bit of muddling (hopefully). Lummy @grandadbobwith hair!!!! Covid cases in Leeds seem to have fallen off a cliff. Is this due to less testing or... When we flew back from Madeira someone on the flight tested positive. We have tested every day for the required number of days..all negative but others we know flew back from Austria.. they have got it.. and we're pinged by test and trace. You winsome, you lose some! RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted February 18, 2022 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 18, 2022 Mooring AWL, inner Temple Hare, Wind has been increasing for some time but Eunice will not be at her peak here till 15:00 ish, I see all the TV companies are putting their reporters in harm's way. Shortly I'll wander out and look to see where to see where the tile has come from the roof.. After last night's lack of sleep, not surprisingly I had a bit more this night, 4hours long gap 4hours, and I may try for more later.. our current PC has a 2007 motherboard but it was a multi core chip fitted and I've since added a solid state drive.. so it can still do everything we want. Ben the seaweed inspecting Collie, dragged me out at 05:30, we wandered around the garden, then he stopped looked intently into the wind then turned and headed for home, just as we reached the house the rain started.. he's just giving me indications he wants to go out again, so there must be a gap in the rain. Time to go look at the roof.. 1

RMweb Premium Popular Post TheQ Posted February 18, 2022 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 18, 2022 Just bin out with Ben part 2, very soggy puddles are already to maximum size. Amazingly the tile blew off the roof , over the hip, and then dropped 20ft into the front garden all 6ft depth of it. It landed with out breaking which is a miracle. That has been recovered to a safe place for refitment, when the weather allows. It came out at about 5ft from the eaves, 2 tiles in from the hip. When the time comes it'll take a big ladder, and two long poles to push it back into place. Two because one needs to push the tile, the other needs to lift the tile above it to slide this one into place. They somewhat loosely lock into place, and about 1in 5 are nailed down. 4
RMweb Gold grandadbob Posted February 18, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 18, 2022 (edited) Good morning all, The wind (outside the house ) woke me at about 5.00 am and it's still gusting and quite wet. Our weather warning here has changed from Amber to Red from 10.00 am so we're definitely not going anywhere. Already had a warning from son Steve to stay put. I did tell him I might be getting old but I'm not completely daft....yet! Time for some breakfast. Have a good one, Bob. RMweb Premium Popular Post New Haven Neil Posted February 18, 2022 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 18, 2022 Morning, from a not very windy rock. 6c. I see the weather maps show the amber zone cleverly circumventing us, I wonder if they told the wind to do that? Or is it just that we're not directly in the UK so don't count? Yet we pay the BBC TV licence....pah. Manxie weather shows us amber. Lat night was eerily still, not a breath when we went to bed, I had to go down the garage as I had left my workbench light on. Bike club morning will be car club, Gophers cafe the venue for a morning of talking, well drivel. But bike drivel.

tigerburnie
Morning wild and windy here, not too windy about 40 mph, had a bit of snow, but now sleet again, many roads are closed, snow gates are expected to be closed on the high roads, but the main dual carrigeways(we don't have any motorways round here) are difficult to get through, Dundee to Aberdeen is chaos seemingly. Son in law went to work in Kirriemuir and they are closing the roads round there, so he might be stuck there for the night. Take care all and keep warm. 1 1
RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted February 18, 2022 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 18, 2022 Morning all from Estuary-Land. No need for a weather report this morning but the winds starting to pick up, someone must have told it about the red warning. Luckily I have a few spare roof tiles in store in case any are damaged. When the local authority/housing association reroofed their properties a few years ago I managed to cadge a few of the old tiles, fortunately I haven't had to use them yet. Apart from the usual morning reminder Arthur Itis has been quiet of late and long may it continue. Definitely staying in doors today. 17

RMweb Premium Popular Post BSW01 Posted February 18, 2022 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 18, 2022 Good morning everyone Not much sign of Eunice here at the moment, although we have had a few heavy showers and strong gusts, but they lasted just a few minutes. Currently bright and sunny at the moment and the trees are not moving at all. I’ve decided to forget the walk to the butchers today, instead I’ll call there on my way back from the Trafford Centre, that way I’m assured of not getting soaked through. After that there are no firm plans, but that could change at any moment. Stay safe, back later. Brian 18 1

Popular Post Pacific231G
Winds are definitely strengthening here in W. London but, after heavy rain earlier on the sky is now clear blue with just a few whisps of cloud moving very fast. Damage is likely to be signifcant here not so much because the winds will be any stronger but because in a large urban area there's so much to blow around. Looking at the aerodrome forecasts (TAFs) the predicted gusts between now and 14.00 are up to 60kts (about 70MPH) for Heathrow and Northolt but 65 kts for Farnborough and 70 kts till 12.00 for Cardiff. RMweb Premium Popular Post NGT6 1315 Posted February 18, 2022 RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted February 18, 2022 Moaning awl. Just completed a grocery order for home delivery - mainly heavier items, things that keep or stuff for the freezer! Just in case I, too, may have to enter quarantine in a couple of days… Other foods which we'll need for the weekend I can get at the supermarket near us, which I'll duly obtain once the beverage delivery I also made this morning has been through. Elise says that as of today, she only feels tired really, and that the side effects from the jabs were more pronounced. Well, here's hoping we'll be through with it by the end of next week... Storm warnings for our location have been updated to around nightfall today. Oh well... Stay safe, everyone... 11
Popular Post AndrewC
Greetings all from the breezy borough. A calm before the storm. The rain has stopped, the wind has died down, and there is a bit of sun showing. Of course you know, this means we are going to get hammered shortly. Southeastern even though they're no longer a private franchise are determined to maintain their modus operandi of cancelling trains for any excuse in order to save money. The SE London metro lines are basically stuffed as they've cancelled most services and shortened others. Asshats. SWMBO had to go into the office today to fix someone else's fustercluck. She's hoping to escape in an hour or 2. Bins not picked up this week. (again) The joke is on the new outsourced company. Our metal/glass bin took off down the street, spilling out about 20kg of glass and metal. Instead of a simple bin empty, they've now got the fun job of cleaning up half a dozen or so bins worth of recycling and food waste that is migrating down the road towards the high street. More asshats. Little else. TFIF Enjoy the weekend. 1
