RMweb Gold Brinkly Posted January 2, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 2, 2016 I'll give it a whirl Paul, I was just thinking that it was about time I ran some trains. Photos later. Cracking stuff Alan, look forward to seeing more photos soon. Happy new year. Kind regards, Nick.

RMweb Premium Clive Mortimore Posted January 2, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 2, 2016 There's me thinking the trains couldn't get through because of the track lifting at Wencombe. I do like the Swindon Cross Country unit.
cornish trains jez
Just dropped in to wencombe. Always a very pleasurable visit. Happy new year and look forward to more photos and progress in 2016! Best regards, Jeremy
westerner
Clive, the 120 is still not quite finished, bodies not properly attached to the chassis and I've coupled them slightly too close together so they occasionally derail. So still need a bit of work.
The Great Bear
Great photos, Alan. The first shot, with the buildings and bus visible above and through the platform canopy is especially realistic. The lighting and colour balance in the first two photos is excellent too. westerner
Finished detailing the houses up the Steps. I've had thoughts about putting the hotel next to the top house as at the moment the road disappears straight into the back scene, not a very clever idea. If I move the hotle as in the photos below then the road can disappear at a shallower angle and can have some trees and bushes on the station side of the road and therefore be partly hidden as it disappears. I wonder what people think.
Killybegs
It looks better in the second pic when you can't see between the buildings. What are you planning to do with the back scene to tie it in with the half relief buildings?
westerner
I'm thinking about that, garden fencing and or fencing between the buildings, trees or shrubbery. Its something I'll have to play with, I may even move the hotel again to make the gaps between buildings smaller or even add a narrow building. pwr
A few trees between the buildings could help. Great photos Alan -thank you Paul R
westerner
Taking on board what Killybegs said I decided I would move the hotel and move the road and fill the gap lower down the steps with another building, The end of the hotel will have a tree growing near it, thus hopefully slightly camouflaging the half relief aspect. westerner
forgot to mention that the weights are holding down, whilst the glue dries, the new road.

Andrew P
Hi Alan, Yes no gaps between the Houses looks much better and a nice Tree on the right hand end will work a treat, its all looking rather good, well done.
RMweb Gold Brinkly Posted January 7, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 7, 2016 Yeah no gaps looks better. Has a really Kingsbridge/Dartmouth feel to it. Kind regards, Nick.
westerner
Many thanks for the positive comments on the most recent work. Hopefully that area will be finished by the end of the weekend. By the way Nick how is Horrabridge getting on?
Removed a/c
Agreed, looks much better now.
Popular Post westerner
Near enough finished the "Steps". This afternoon I hid the road going off scene. I must run some trains again and get the lampposts back on the platform.
RMweb Gold gwrrob Posted January 10, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 10, 2016 Now I do like that Alan.
RMweb Gold Brinkly Posted January 10, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 10, 2016 Agree completely looks smashing Alan. Sorry not to reply to your post re Horrabridge. Basically not much has happened of late. I've had to withdraw from the Exeter show, as it clashes with a friend's wedding, but I'm currently really re-thinking my modelling plan for this year. I'm planning on putting a post on the thread soon explaining my ideas and plans. The project certainly isn't going to be scrapped, just re thought! P Kind regards, Nick. Andrew P
Lovely Alan, really nice way to finish the Road off. Well done.
Peter Kazmierczak
Alan, This is one of the best "losing the road in the backscene" effects that I've seen. Well done. In this case the 'bus isn't a cliche as it really ties the town and countryside beyond, together. That green 'bus is an important element in the whole. islandbridgejct
You've really brought that area together very nicely. An approach for me to remember for future use.
