winterbournecm
Indeed, a right mess to clear up. Also 153380 is marrooned at Goonbarrow too! I hear it may be roaded away as it's required elsewhere? Will be delighted when the line reopens. My shifts at Goonbarrow & BZ have been VERY quiet lately... RMweb Premium Kris Posted November 25, 2010 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 25, 2010 Don't think I would have wanted to be in the cottage at the base of that.
Jules
Looks a bit different to when I was walking that way back in September - agree about living in those cottages
RMweb Premium Gwiwer Posted November 25, 2010 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 25, 2010 Point of order. Why is Goonbarrow staffed when the line is closed to all traffic?
RMweb Gold Captain Kernow Posted November 28, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 28, 2010 Also 153380 is marooned at Goonbarrow too! I hear it may be roaded away as it's required elsewhere? Due to be removed on low-loader Weds am, as I understand it....
RMweb Gold Captain Kernow Posted December 4, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 4, 2010 Well, the 153 didn't manage to escape from Goonbarrow clay works, due to the low-loader not being able to negotiate the narrow and bendy access roads... But the good news is that the Newquay branch will reopen throughout with the first booked trains on Tuesday morning, 07th December. The first train will be the 0530 Fowey to Goonbarrow clay service. RMweb Gold Captain Kernow Posted December 7, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 7, 2010 Pleased to say that the Newquay branch reopened to normal working for the first trains this morning.
RMweb Gold Ramblin Rich Posted December 7, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 7, 2010 Pleased to say that the Newquay branch reopened to normal working for the first trains this morning. Hooray! Nice work on National Rail's part. There must be a bit of a backlog of clay to ship out of Goonbarrow! I saw some coverage on the BBC Spotlight programme showing works around Ponts Mill (I think) spraying concrete onto the embankment. I guess it will improve stability but won't look as nice.... RMweb Gold Captain Kernow Posted December 8, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 8, 2010 Hooray! Nice work on National Rail's part. There must be a bit of a backlog of clay to ship out of Goonbarrow! In fact, Imerys hired a load of lorries from Devon and elsewhere to keep the clay moving, but no doubt the locals will be relieved to have fewer lorries on the local roads...
