RMweb Gold Popular Post Worsdell forever Posted December 10, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted December 10, 2022 Looks like we're just about there, the guard in there shows just how low the roof was on these vans. 40 1
Riverside
What paint are you using for the 'Indian Red' Paul? I have one of these ready to paint. It's scratchbuilt though in plastcard.

RMweb Gold Popular Post Worsdell forever Posted March 22, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted March 22, 2023 Not much been happening of late, been slowly (started before Christmas) building an NER 'country' station building in the style of the Forge Valley line buildings designed by William Bell. There are slight differences, the windows are a different size and the single storey gables don't stick out on to the platform as far. I'm currently (very slowly) adding guttering from Modelu components, they're very good but a bit fiddly! 30 1 16

RMweb Gold Popular Post Worsdell forever Posted March 24, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted March 24, 2023 A few details on the station building. Windows are laser cut sash windows from Smart Models, three layers in total. They're slightly too big but look OK. Chimney pots are printed and also from Smart Models. They're just about spot on for the type used on these buildings. Slates and ridges are from Scale Model Scenery and are sheet LX415-00. The clock is a disc of plasticard, a ring of plasticard, a printed clock face off the Internet and a disc of clear plastic. At the moment under the canopy there's a serpent platform seat from a D&S kit and a couple of barrows from Shire Scenes kits, I assumed these would be the same colour as the seat but I read in, I believe, North Easter Record 'the passenger barrows would still be painted green' I'm assuming this would be loco green? Poster and timetable boards drawn on the computer, suitable posters added and printed. Don't look too closely at the timetable board, the top half is for the Blyth & Tyne and the bottom for Scarborough, Whitby and Middlesbrough... Door signs drawn on the computer and printed out.

Very interesting to see your work on this Paul. I've drawn up the plans to 4mm scale for the same building, originally from Robin Lidster's Forge Valley line book, ready for building, so will have something to compare to!
RMweb Gold Popular Post Worsdell forever Posted May 2, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted May 2, 2023 New car! Well, old car. A few weeks ago I spotted a bag of plastic car kits on a stand at an exhibition for £2, they looked pretty old and the blue printed paper in the bag told me that the kits had been donated to Oxfam by 'the manufacturer' to save them going to waste, the pack was sold for 25p. In the pack were kits for a 1905 Vauxhall (turns out it's a hansom cab), 1915 Ford (model T), 1926 Bugatti, 1904 Mercedes and an 1899 Renault. They looked suspiciously like 4mm scale (they pretty much are) and suspiciously like they had originally been destined for a box of corn flakes which it turns out was right, sometime in the mid to late 70s! They've lasted well with no damage! Ford. Renault. Instructions. What colour? The plan is it will get a better windscreen. Delivery miles only... All in all the Ford has built up into a decent little model, not bad for 40p each! 45 1

Riverside
What a find! They look surprisingly accurate and detailed for a 'corn flakes give-away'. Like the combination with the NER open carriage truck. 1
RMweb Gold Popular Post Worsdell forever Posted July 16, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted July 16, 2023 Not done any wagonry for quite a while so today I decided to get a few bits finished. I've finished lettering and fitted couplings to 3 Midland vans (Slaters) and painted, lettered and fitted couplings to an NB pig iron wagon (51L). The NB wagon might just be spotted this next weekend on The Depots at the Goathland exhibition if you were to venture across the moors.
RMweb Gold Popular Post Worsdell forever Posted January 23 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted January 23 Done very little modelling since before Christmas, it's been too cold in the workshop to do anything on the layout and just had no chance to do anything at the bench as my dad's been in hospital since just after new year, thankfully he's home now and doing well, just managed a couple of bits and pieces on some wagons until Sunday when I decided I had a free day to just get on and do something, I've been wanting to get on with some half built carriages for a while and thought it would be a good opportunity to make some progress on this diagram 5 lavatory composite. On Sunday I got all the door handles and grabs fitted along with the footboards along the full length, tonight I've fitted the lamp tops and ventilators. The body has had a waft of grey primer. 25

Thanks for that, it's the only kit I have without a drawing on the box lid, all easily resolved. was there also a corridor on the other side of the other toilet?
