16t minerals

Recommended Posts

  • 1 month later...

Gentlefolk, having entered the cakebox challenge, I have decided on the humble 16 ton mineral wagon as the main subject of my entry. So I have, over the past three or four weeks worked my way through this thread from beginning to end, to check I don't ask a silly question that has already been answered, and now suffering from severe information overload! Still, apart from following some of the links, at least no further research is required!

However, whilst 4mm has been covered, "0" gauge has been covered, my plans are for 1/32 scale (gauge 1). Really I would prefer an etched kit (a new experience for me, and I want to cut bits out, which will be easier in the flat). So far my quest has drawn a blank. Anyone looking at this any experience, or can point me in the right direction?

Many thanks,

Tref

Couple more Hi-Res colour shots from Mr Wright:

Wakefield Westgate, 6th June 1967.  Going away shot, so most of the wagon seen in good detail.

Annbank, 25th April 1966.

Probably had this one before, but maybe now at a higher resolution?

... and don't forget to include these oft discussed characters.

That was a great spot because it was the only place where you could get most of the New Street and Snow Hill trains at the same time.

The man going up the short ladder to nowhere adds quite a bit to the atmosphere too!

Mike.

Can't remember his name but the hat tells me he was the Telegraph Lineman on the same patch as my Grandad was Signal Lineman at that time.

...not sure if we've seen this 'dunch' before...

Very interesting photo - this is it in context https://www.flickr.com/photos/69692733@N07/23290154161/in/photostream/  Photos of the pressed door LMS steel minerals are unusual, and this is well lettered in BR style but retains the LMS bauxite. Nice.
