Classsix T
Was that the last train to use the line? Ed I chased two tours on an incredibly hot 12th of May 2001, Pathfinder's "Freightliner Pheonix" caught at Ely then a dash to phot 66250 and 66076 T&T on Hertfordshire's "Fenman" tour "near March" my phot log says. A check of Six Bells Junction confirms the 66's did indeed do the Wisbech branch. C6T.
trisonic
Really nice shots! The perspectives and the low horizons catch the feel of East Anglia totally! Best, Pete.
45669
The people in Wisbech who won 101 million pounds on the Lottery said that they would give £1m each to all their friends. Wouldn't it be nice if the Bramley Line people were amongst them...
ess1uk
Network Rail has renewed the licence to occupy the trackbed and establishment of an operating base at Waldersea.
flyingsignalman
In about 1980/1 the Beast and I went to Norwich to see a friend who was at university there; on the way we crossed the Wisbech line, near Wisbech, and we were lucky enough to see a train on its way to March. pete_mcfarlane
But what is the petition supporting? It's not clear from the BBC article whether it's for the preservation scheme or a commercial reopneing as per the ATOC proposal.
LNERGE
I feel the only way we'll see trains there again is with support from the County Council and a TOC and a pile of money.
RMweb Gold Enterprisingwestern Posted July 1, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 1, 2013 ATOC reckon it could serve a million passengers, or about 1 1/2% of the population of britain, really? Mike.
LNERGE
ATOC reckon it could serve a million passengers, or about 1 1/2% of the population of britain, really? Mike. I think that is in a year. The signalling at March has been altered to cope with Wisbech to Peterborough movements and vice versa. The same applies in the Cambridge direction. LNERGE
This not the current diagram (it's from the darkest days before Whitemoor came back) but it serves to show the moves for a passenger service are signalled..
Chris Turnbull
It's unlikely to see any support from the County Council. Cambridgeshire is notoriously anti-railway - just think guided busway! They allowed the Bedford and St Ives lines to be closed and then, to add insult to injury, concreted over some years later. Result? Severe congestion on the A14 for which Mr Osborne has now allocated money to effect improvements - money that could have been spent on revitalising our railways. RMweb Premium Richard E Posted July 2, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 2, 2013 And Peterborough are violently anti-car, bus, train - in fact anything that creates pollution - what do you expect from the "Environmental Capital of the UK"!
