ess1uk
Just been checking my Lima mk2 coaches. Most are prefixed with a W so presume they would be Western region allocated to Old Oak or Laira? what workings would they mainly be found on mid 1980s and with what motive power? coaches are as follows: 6x W5449 2x W13493 2x W16084 which is not a Mk2 number 1 x M34571 (Mainline) 1x E6524 so obviously at least 7 will need a renumber what would be the best numbers to use? thanks for all the answers! caradoc
5449 is a Mark 2b TSO; These were numbered 5434 to 5497. 13493 is a Mark 2b FK; Numbered 13476 to 13513. 16084 as you say is an incorrect number; IIRC this is a Mark 2b BFK and should therefore be in the series 14104 to 14112. 34571 I think is a Mainline Railways Mark 1 BSK and if so is correctly numbered. 6524 is a Mark 2c Micro-Buffet, these were converted in 1980/81 from TSOs, although the Lima vehicle is a Mark 2b rather than 2c. Hope this helps !

ess1uk
The sidings have had a layer of ash ballast added and the glue is drying. Will find out in the morning how well this has worked, but it looks ok at the moment, just like neglected sidings should. Weeds to add next, got to hide the joins round the bottom of the two huts. ess1uk
the glue has dried and the surplus ash has been knocked off i dont think it looks too bad for an experiment with a bit of scatter added and some longer grass and weeds it be just like the real thing Edited July 20, 2012 by ess1uk

Shed
Looking good. How about some shots of the locos? Do you have a full list of what you have?
ess1uk
The mods don't like pictures of RTR locos straight from the box so I will be limited to just 2 detailed locos. If you look through the thread you can just about make up a list of what I have, the main locos are mentioned, the only others are a handful of Hornby HST that are still numbered either 43010 or 43011 as I have not yet got round to changing them all. Carbonel
"The mods don't like pictures of RTR locos straight from the box....." A serious question...Is this right? If so, it has the smell of the elitist about it, as practised by some of the "post-or-die" on-line societies; and - if the statement IS accurate - takes no account of those of us with ten thumbs, or for whom age and bodily decrepitude are a daily feature. Any thoughts?
ess1uk
This afternoon Ruby helped me to add some green scatter to the sidings test board. The glue is drying and we will see the results in the morning
ess1uk
the glue is still wet in some patches and it needs a "sweep" to remove stray mess for reuse. on the whole it's not too bad for an enthusiastic 7 year old!
ess1uk
Oh dear, another loco heads to the grave yard! Ruby was running the detailed second hand class 33 yesterday with 7 coaches and today it is smelling a little burnt and not playing Just taken it apart and there is half a ton of lead in it! This is after the little tank engine was left at full speed for ages the other Sunday and now it only wants to run backwards slowly Good job my best locos don't come out until bed time! ess1uk
Not much to report due to holiday but I did buy another second hand Hornby msv from Trains4U yesterday that will get weathered this afternoon. Still after some long grass for the sidings but unsure what to use for the best results. Any ideas? Edited September 20, 2012 by ess1uk
ess1uk
Well the ash ballast on the sidings looked ok but had not stuck very well in some places so it has been scraped off and some stone ballast added instead. Also added some clumps of long grass. The glue is drying so will have to wait to see if this has worked any better. Also there is another new wagon in the fleet purchased today at the Trains4U open day.
ess1uk
Glue drying and ballast looking ok. Happy with the grass too I will post a picture later once the loose ballast has been cleaned off.
ess1uk
some bad quality pictures taken on the Blackberry in fading light to show new stone ballast and long grass added over the last few days on the sidings test board. i'm going to add more long grass and tidy other bits up before adding a backscene then its time to go to town on the full depot
ess1uk
a few more pictures with the new Bachmann wagon bought at Trains4U open day. The VBA is my first Bachmann wagon and I think I will get a few more. Edited September 23, 2012 by ess1uk
