Ruffnut Thorston
Well guys, we've seen Larry Goddard's name used as a selling tool recently so why not go the whole hog and drag that well known modeller Cuneo into it! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Tri-ang-Triang-R355-O-4-O-Tank-Locomotive-Nellie-Cuneo-Weathered-C-W-Crew-/290929122049?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item43bcba1b01 Funny enough, the blurb is true. Cuneo "weathered" a Nellie and some wagons (An ex GWT Toad Brakevan I think. The book is elsewhere.) for the 1962 Tri-ang Book "Tri-ang Railways the first 10 Years", and wrote a piece about the process as well. (It involves a candle, not very H & S!) The model is close to the colour photo in the book. It is thought that this lead to the first Tri-ang "Factory Weathered" model, a 3f 0-6-0 tender loco (the old R.251) in the "Old Smokey" train set. Why?! If they'd just painted it grey, that weathering would actually have made a good looking brake van that could have been passed off for 70's engineering trains! RMweb Gold Metr0Land Posted June 14, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 14, 2013 I love that Mercedes ad. Meanwhile back at Rails-vault. I hasten to add there's nothing at all amiss with the seller in these 2, just a couple of 2nd hand items from the 'what WERE they thinking of?' file. First up a blue class 56. Nothing wrong in that? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OO-Gauge-Mainline-Class-56-Diesel-Locomotive-/161041377134?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item257ed0676e A now a class 207 Thumper/Oxted Unit in olive green. Now I think that stopped being applied about 1938, when Bulleid introduced the rather brighter malachite shade. The Oxted units were introduced about 1962, so probably wore BR(S) green from then on. This looks more olive than BR green as claimed by Rails. And every Oxted unit I saw - and 40 years ago the chap on the next desk was the controller for the Oxted lines and its units - had 3 coaches. Mere details, of course. Edited June 14, 2013 by Oldddudders

They came out in the very bright 'malachite green' the Region was rather fond of at that time - the first one I came across was in St Leonards depot for artisan training and the helpful Fitter (or whatever he was) who took dad and i round when we turned up there one evening gave me the pleasure of starting it up and driving it about one coach length - set 1300 according to my ABC. Horsetan
I wonder how the seller is still living, having written about his 'more to love' wife? I was amused to note that the "wife" has retained her maiden name rather than take the seller's surname, so maybe they are not married in the conventional sense. As for the E-class Merc, that W201 generation were prone to rust almost anywhere from the word "go". Avoid them like the plague. The merger with Chrysler was marked by plummeting build quality that would have embarrassed the Italians.

Lima OO Gauge . Not the best model, the centre drivers are not connected to the coupling rods...it was made that way! But, it is the only RTR model of that particular class I think? Anyhow, the seller must be happy, as it started at £0.99!

(Plain coupling rods and those solid wheels.) They must have put a screw down the chimney to hold the body on? Good condition? there is a coupling hook missing from the back...
