EBay madness

Yes indeed. A miscalculation on their part I think.

On the other hand, I have dealt successfully with them on several occasions when purchasing various adhesives, some of the types which were hard to find.

If nothing else it saves having to recreate an account specifically for SE Finecast. Sometimes it is just easier to shop under one roof. Hence the popularity of malls.

Fair enough. I'm just about to ring SE Finecast to place an order - if not successful I'll try Howes who do them at RRP before then going to eBay!

Edit to add:

Called Finecast and said I'd like to order some bts. Certainly, sir, came the response & after giving my address & card details we had a bit of a chat about modelling in general. They also said I could send them a photocopy of the sides of some of the coaches I want to glaze & they could advise whether the kits would fit or not.

All respect to eBay on many occasions (I wouldn't have the coaches to detail if it wasn't there) but that's what I call customer service. I've had similar from Howes, Antics and Fox's and where possible I will deal with them direct!

Hi

And from the same seller, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Two-Yale-type-keys-/330969398678?pt=UK_HaG_Lock_Safes_GL&hash=item4d0f503d96

Sorry it's not railway ,but why?.

And this one ,it's railway of some sort http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Airfix-model-wagon-/330972657823?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item4d0f81f89f

read what he has put about it !.

That reminds me I really should put the bins out today!

Despite the price, this looks very nice:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OO-GAUGE-KIT-BUILT-KING-GEORGE-VI-BR-MAROON-4-6-2-LOCOMOTIVE-46244-/130959815157?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item1e7dd031f5

However, I did notice the following two things:

1) At £445, I would have thought at the very least the buffers would have been as they should, and not all over the place as in the photos!

2) Is it just me, or is there a distinctive 'droop' in the running plate at the very front?

I am no expert on kit built stuff, but if I was planning on parting with near enough £500, i'd expect a pukka job. Given that it is Rails as well - an established model shop and trader - I would have thought faults like this would/should be noticed before listing?

Also, I just noticed - 300 pages of madness!!!

I've always found Rails a bit odd.  There have been some items I've been interested in, enough to bd but not enough to stretch myself, which have gone for very large sums of money.  The funny bit is that they have frequently been the rather antiquated or damaged stock I tend to buy for practising my detail work on!

Yes I think you are 100% correct, it has a 'rough shunt' and the front footplate has been bent down. It could even be loose.

Also is it just me that finds the Rails of Sheffield 'totems' rather intrusive?  It is not too bad on this one but sometimes they obscure important detail. On the header photos they can even completely obscure wagons in some instances!

Are some people for real ???? :O  it is bad enough the advertiser being optimistic, but "FFS" there is even a buyer who thinks this model is worth the asking price !!!!! :scratchhead:
