RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted October 11, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 11, 2014 Not sure if this one has been mentioned before but it appears to have been available on a BIN basis for several months now - without success. I think it started at about £975 earlier in the year and is now down to £925. I am sure it is a nice enough model but if you look at it close up then it is 'reasonable' but not exceptional (bent hand rails, poor cabside numbering etc) Can't help thinking the seller remains overly optimistic on this one - there are better kit built ones available for less than half the price of this, and looking at it I think he would be lucky to get more than £300 on a good day! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DJH-KIT-BUILT-BR-ex-SR-CLASS-WC-No-34022-4-6-2-EXMOOR-LOCO-TENDER-/301295758789?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item4626a06dc5 'Overly optimistic' must be this week's understatement - the smokebox numberplate looks terrible, the handrail on the smoke deflector hasn't even been trimmed back, the paintwork on the smoke deflector has got lumps in it, the handrail looks like an advert for a seasickeness pill, and the unglazed cab looks only a little less crude than the heavily overscale lining. Quite honestly he'd be lucky to get much above £100-150 for it in auction (unless it was being bought by one of the hugely optimistic Ebay sellers). Total rip-off. RMweb Gold Re6/6 Posted October 11, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 11, 2014 Quite honestly he'd be lucky to get much above £100-150 for it in auction .......... That's probably around what he paid for it or probably even less..... Perhaps it will become the same as his Gaiety tank body piece of junk which was for sale for over seven years and then sunk without trace.
Il Grifone
Perhaps he sold it! but there is still this one:- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GAIETY-MODELS-BR-0-6-2T-TANK-LOCO-BODY-RARE-VN-MIB-/301242526695?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item4623742be7 and as a consolation prize there are 3 complete Gaiety pannier tanks from £60 (a real snip).
RMweb Gold Metr0Land Posted October 12, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 12, 2014 I don't think we've had this optimistic seller before? They look like Trix to me, but there's not enough detail to be 100% sure. If so they're far better than the originals, but a tad undersized. On the other hand, so is the coach. I don't have a 'Ruth', just 'Anne', 'Mary' and 'Car 79'*, but I doubt it will be this one seeing the price. * Bought new many moons ago, before Dublo brought out theirs. EDIT Looking again it appears slightly squashed to look longer or is it just me? and I'm not too sure about the glue residue being easy to remove. It looks like Evo-stik or similar - its solvents tend to attack plastic or paint or both. Edited October 12, 2014 by Il Grifone

But only one brake car and only from 1960, Car No. 79. As most all Pullman Trains probably had two Brake Cars, why not at least two numbers? Perhaps they thought that people would only buy 1? I agree that the listing pic looks a little squished vertically....these (supposedly based on SR EMU Pullman Cars, 6-PUL and 6-PAN.) were amongst the last 9" coaches made, into the 1970s (along with the SR "Utility Van")...
