EBay madness

Joking aside though, that 31 and 2 MK2's is currently at £27.99

I'm not sure if it's an Airfix or Lima version beneath that muck, but a nice new tub of modelstrip or similar and you have a cheap machine to attach some Shawplan/Extreme components to... (though I'm not sure if it's Airfix (I think so) that it lends itself quite so well...

Hi,

Its an Airfix loco - the front coupling gives it away as its the narrow Airfix type rather than the very large Lima type. The cabside handrails are also moulded on whereas Lima were separate plastic mouldings.

Regards

Edit : Sorry just noticed that Mick had already said this above.

Thanks Talisman. I think it would be a nice and easy conversion from the Bachmann model. It's just a shame there'd be no 313 to push/pull it.

Russ, they did appear in dark blue under railtrack, but previously they advertised a brand of red, white and blue toothpaste.

Sorry for the repeated o/t.

The Triang/Hornby Nelly/Polly/Connie. I buy them occasionally at a going rate of £10-£15. They look nice if you paint them in BR Black and totally remanufacture. I have a fleet of 5 and 5 bodies.

Gostude has an orignal. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TRIANG-Hornby-R359-0-4-0-PRIMARY-INDUSTRIAL-TANK-LOCO-/370489383878?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item5642e35bc6 Probably a bit disingenuous to call it an industrial with a BR logo. Still "This loco appears brand new and unrun"

The Gostude price for an R355 - £397.50. At which point buyers will no doubt consider £9.50 fair game for the post.

Cant afford it - don't panic. He has another

That's £297.50 and only £8 for the post. It also "appears brand new and unrun" or to me appears resprayed and re-decalled

Ah well, don't need any more.

Ah doesn't time fly....  Say hello to a pair of old friends from Gostude. Anyone else would cut the price.

Let me also say hello to the other 7 watchers.  My guess is that 6 are on here and one is at trading standards.

I have to say that these are the "not so common" Black locos.

Moulded in Black Plastic these were the repalcement for the Maroon "Steeple Cab" Electric Loco in the "Primary Series" starter model range, a pre-Railroad range.

The earliest have red buffer beams, and are heat printed with a gold Early BR crest, the same as early R.50 Princesses.

The later ones lose the red paint for cheapness, and have Late Crest Transfers.

These were the only 2 types moulded in BLACK plastic....so if it's blue inside..... ;)

I just can't believe anyone with an ounce of knowledge would be willing to part with so much for so little.

I suppose you only need to reel one in every so often to make a tidy little side income...

I thought at that price it might have been his usual 'kit built'.

Cannot be described as perfect if un-run. How does he know it works?

7 watchers. Crantock s guess is that 6 are on here and one is at trading standards.

I think the Fraud Squad should get involved.

It is a rare 'collectable' (why anyone would want to collect this rubbish at this sort of price is beyond me though) and he's entitled to charge what he likes for it - just as we are entitled to poke fun......

It would only be fraud if the article were not what is claimed, but it appears genuine. Whether it's worth over £400 is another matter.................................

Bidding frenzy between 2 buyers.  Just what you want if you're selling.  Why does it never happen when I'm the seller?  :scratchhead:

Goodness knows how many of the listings this guy has state something along the lines of 'purchased in error as not suitable for my railway'.  I bet T P Barnum wishes he were alive today (or Arkwright from Open All Hours).

Happened to me once when I had a sideline selling Faller e-train items, which are quite popular for O-gauge garden railways. Had 2 MIB diesel locos, and listed one. They usually went for around £40ish at the time, but a bidding frenzy between two bidders broke out to push the price to over £80. I then made a second chance offer to the losing bidder for the second engine and he accepted! I was laughing all the way to the bank!

That just looks shifty to me.

If he's a trader and doesn't want to admit it (warranty, vat/ tax issues then he'd be better writing nothing instead)

Reminds  me   of  when I was  selling  a  POLA  G  scale  building  from  my  garden  railway,  It was originally a Kit I had  built  many  years  earlier, it  cost  around  £25.00, I put it on  for £25.00  there was  the usual last minute  rush  ( which  was  quite common a few  years  ago)  it  sold  for  around  £70.00 It want  rare  the  kit  was  still available.

I also once  listed a job lot of Peco Foam ballast underlay  new  value (ex Hattons) £30.00  sold it  for  Around  £50.00

.

The most  surprisng thing of  all  was  the  sale  of  a   used 00 loco,  It  went  for  around  £60.00 which was more than I expected to say the  least, as they were  available at new  discount  for around £40.00 to £50.00,  the  buyer  had  an  L15 postcode,   so do  Hattons!!!

Do you think he's been married more than once but had to get rid of his first wife because she was the wrong region, not modern image and was not fitted with NEM couplings?

Happened to me only last week :)

Except it was a couple of no-feedback losers so I've given up on actually being paid :(

Anyway, not really madness, but there seems to be a decently part-made 009 layout listed with no interest at all.

Layouts are funny things to sell on here.

Our club sold an old layout, code 100 track etc for over £1700.

Then a better modelled finescale layout in 00 only goes for £390.

Both similar size and both oval in shape, (well the trackwork).

I looked at this  http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TRIANG-Hornby-R751-SPARES-REPAIR-Ks-KIT-BUILT-BR-BLUE-CLASS-50-LOCO-50010-na-/361160427291?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item5416d6c71b out of curiosity from the description as an Triang R751 K's Kit Built Class 50.  At least it was partly explained in the text, but then I wondered who was asking £47.50 for this rubbish  - then I realised it is our old friend Gostude!
