Here we go again from 'you know who'.....

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WILLS-FINECAST-KIT-BUILT-BR-4-6-2-CLASS-A3-LOCO-60096-PAPYRUS-COMET-PORTESCAP-nc-/361167975122

"This is a very nicely assembled, painted and lined locomotive fitted with what looks like a Portescap motor and gearbox, mounted on what looks like a Comet Chassis."

Really, either it is or it isn't..... too lazy to to bother to take the body off to confirm......it is 'kit built' after all. The chassis though would be harder to identify.

I would want to know for the money being asked. If it really is a 'Portescap' within, then the price would be fairly reasonable.

Gosturd is either ignorant of the many models that he's been stuck with for years, or is trying to lead buyers on.

The chassis (or bits of it) do appear to be Comet. Having had a good squint at the sole under-chassis photo, I can say categorically that there is no - repeat, no - Portescap in that engine. It's a plain iron-cored motor (probably a Mashima or one of its many clones) and gearbox - the giveaway is the circular disc terminal / cover for a carbon brush which shows up next to the pivot for the trailing truck. That, and the final drive gear which appears too coarse to be RG4, plus the gearbox sides which are too thin to be RG4.

I don't think he will be too worried about his RMweb reputation, as he seems to have joined the big boys -

But do these cars have problems with the reverse gear, as he is on about "that wont give you many problems going forwards"  :scratchhead:

Note the clever way that he has disguised the miles-per-gallon as 'seats'.........

I think he is just showing off, and brand-name dropping to try and impress readers with his supposed widespread 'knowledge' of the past and present model railway scene.

Lovely near mint item, with chunks broken off and buffers missing...

Pity Hornby never made a Manor!

It's "Near Mint" so sold for spares or repair. What condition is it then?

Even the poor Blue Pullman hasn't escaped the leaky bottle of Instant Rust treatment. Scrapped in Nanking Blue? I doubt it!
