RMweb Premium JDW Posted January 20, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 20, 2017 Just when you thought he'd gone (no such luck!) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-DUBLO-2-3-RAIL-MODEL-No-32012-LNER-TEAK-3rd-CLASS-COACH-GREY-ROOF/301834420447?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D40800%26meid%3D30f82587522b475a8fcdcf6f21ede5df%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D401046764496 OK, it is the rarer 3rd class coach and possibly the grey roof indicates it's one of the last clear out from 1954 (these were fitted with the grey BR livery roof, but are of no particular value, as roof replacement is so easy) and the plastic wheels are a modification by a past owner, not original as he's trying to make out (again quite easy to do). The condition is not brilliant and together with the lack of a box suggests a price of around £20 on a good day. (I would say good/very good - scratches and rust are not compatible with the description "excellent".) If anyone's interested he has some more of these.... He also has this "HST" for sale at a rather eye watering price for a 1980s Hornby HST - but wait, lets look at the picture, just to see what we're getting... errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-RAILWAYS-No-R489-BR-INTERCITY-125-9-COACH-SET-/401083871050?hash=item5d62762f4a:g:V6cAAOSwcu5UT6sk
forest2807
I think your description is rather harsh. I thought the same at first glance, but when you view the close ups, oh dear. I'm with Haslam and Pat.

Il Grifone
Not really railway related but obviously a relative of those 'Flying Scotsmen'. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ANTIQUE-METAL-MODEL-CAR-/272527613912?hash=item3f73e95fd8:g:AwwAAOSw4DJYgK8E Not sure of the description "Antique". 'Vintage' I could accept, though it should go between 'model' and 'car'. The seller does admit to not knowing its age.... The valvegear has got its 'knickers in a twist'. (The RHS is set up to go backwards - we'll ignore the wheels set at 90 degrees as overly pedantic.) It is rather neat however. Horsetan
Slightly OT, but this thread's favourite (sic) trader Gosturd - a.k.a. Not a word in the article of what he does for a living, strangely enough....

Horsetan
Are the cars all painted by Larry Goddard? The magazine is worth buying for the amusement factor alone. One thing is clear: he has a lot of Studebakers, including some of the very few RHD cars built, and the impression I got is that it's probably the biggest single-owner collection of the marque in this country.
