RMweb Gold McC Posted April 3, 2012 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 3, 2012 Cheers Andy The plan is Irish stock, taking turns with BR Blue and railfreight with occasional visits via the trans-channel tunnel from Rosslare to Roscof of the TGV Atlantique I'm hoping to get the yard track all laid and wired between now and April end, so I can then get 48 cobalts wired up by mid may :)
Hunslet 102
Stephen The layout is looking great and starting to take shape. It is always good to get a few buildings out to get a feel for how things will look. I like your plan with your rolling stock, although I am sure Thomas and friends will need to be included in that roster! Andy

I have the same approach to my train services but miss out France. UK to Spain direct. I´m not too sure what tunnel they use though.
RMweb Gold McC Posted April 27, 2012 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 27, 2012 After a wee break over easter, work has resumed on Amiens Street. Underlay has now been laid for the carriage sidings and per-way / ballast area The 4 main boards are now physically joined together and underlay and track laying is underway from the throat In preparation for the remaining trackwork laying, hopefully between now and next week! And the state of play of boards 3 - 4 about 4 hours ago
RMweb Gold McC Posted May 14, 2012 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted May 14, 2012 Roughly wired up now for testing, but the first pair of Digital Cobalt motors have been installed and mounted. I’ve used the foam sticky pads to mount them, the screws are holding them in place for the glue to go off. So far I’m hugely impressed, they work great, very quiet, and the auto frog switching is absolutely perfect! Even little 040 and 060′s trundle over the point now without a second thought! In the image above, you can see the little cutouts that come with the foam pads, allowing you to cover up the drill hole very neatly! Will look good once the point is ballasted. Quick update now the weight is off the per way / ballast bank sidings. The station throat is shaping up now and is now fully powered, next I'll get the carriage sidings and this new per way area powered up, before laying the freight yard and main shed areas to the front . Hunslet 102
Stephen Great looking weedkilling train,I think it will be busy with the amount of trackwork that you will be laying! Keep up the good work, look forward to more progress reports. Andy
RMweb Gold McC Posted May 29, 2012 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted May 29, 2012 Cheers Andy, The per way gang are stocking up, weedspray train, couple of tampers, regulators, you name it, even a rebadged MPV They'll be busy with this lot The weathers made it very hot up there the last few days, even with the velux windows, will hopefuly get time tomorrow to finish the front shed sidings, get these tracks powered, and maybe do a few more cobalt motors
RMweb Gold McC Posted June 12, 2012 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted June 12, 2012 Quick update, the freight yard sidings are now down and powered (and a little more stock has escaped from storage!) I probably need to put the stock away and get on with it
RMweb Gold McC Posted June 15, 2012 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted June 15, 2012 Bit of a pictorial update this: I am going to replace the flouro tubes in the attic with 'daylight' LED lighting, and much more of it - as you can see from the pics, the lighting is dreadful for photography (albeit with an iPhone too!) Main news is full operation now on everything laid, the single running shed will now be used as a little wagon works, and a hoist has been installed out front. A small gantry crane is being tested for the freight roads - oh, and the engine shed has ARRIVED!! (and trust me, these photos don't some close to doing it justice!) If you want something done - talk to Glenderg on the forums!!
Hunslet 102
Never put the stock away at the building stage, because once a bit of frustration sets in with the tedious work,it is great to just relax again by watching the trains go by! Layout is coming along great, the engine shed really looks the part and sets the theme up for Amiens St.Also glad to see an NIR hopper making an appearance in unfamiliar territory. Keep the updates coming as I think it will be you that will be giving me the inspiration now to get back on with some more work on Great Victoria Street,as it has stalled in recent weeks. bluefredie
Hi Stephan Love the layout and the Connolly shed will you be adding LED lights to the buildings I have just purchased the Single rd Bachmann shed and will fit both inside and outside lights photos to follow David
RMweb Gold McC Posted June 17, 2012 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted June 17, 2012 Hey lads! Yes loving the shed! Once the platforms and a few more key features go in it will look less generic ( the layout) Yes David. I'm installing a 12v dc bus this week and plan to fully light the layout. All buildings, sheds, pits, platforms, yard towers, street lights - you name it A lot of my coaching stock are lit and I hope to run 'evening' operations
RMweb Gold McC Posted June 17, 2012 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted June 17, 2012 On the NIR stock I've a rake of hoppers, and the older type. CAF units will also occasionally run the enterprise and plenty of blue 201/071s should be on view there are also older era items like the gatwick rake and driving car and class 80's Having what's down now powered does ensure no boredom, alrhought I fried a few chips two days ago with a pliers
RMweb Gold McC Posted June 17, 2012 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted June 17, 2012 I plan to get some of the more 'blue' examples of stock out this week to give RMwebbers something more interested to see perhaps

RMweb Gold McC Posted September 4, 2012 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 4, 2012 I turned my back today for a minute and platforms appeared!! Only 'plonked' at the moment, with a bit of stock for clearance tests, so don't mind the old bump or ripple and an overview
RMweb Gold McC Posted September 4, 2012 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 4, 2012 I've also decided to swap around the Coach and freight sidings opposite the terminus, this will allow 10 feet sidings for long freight trains, whereas the 'new' coach sidings are still 6.5 feet, which are ok for most rakes Here is a 'mock up' of the freight and coach sidings reversed....
