Why is this so rarely modelled?

Was in Hereford Model Centre last week, (wonderful shop), could not resist a second hand mint Lima D407 and a pair of old but nice Triang-Hornby freightliner wagons. (now have a rake of 9)

I'm hooked now on this era !!!

Hi All

While I think of the 80's as the forgotten era of railway modelling its not half as bad as this

http://www.flickr.com/photos/52467480@N08/6920469219/in/photostream

Steam. blue and grey coaches (b4 bogies too) colour lights, FB rail and yet hardly ever (if ever) modelled.

Cheers

Jim

Whilst I actually follow this photographer

There are lots of brilliant photographs of locomotives the photo's of rolling stock are sparse and lacking but that's the bits we modellers need there are some photo's there that tantalisingly show TTV's  Container traffic and of course the Blue/grey coaching stock

But look closely at some of the freights with vans of differing heights at roof line giving away their origins  and the older hopper waggons of the LNER still running in the late 60's

Nice video here - Leeds 1967. Opening shot has a green 47 on a brown & cream pullman with a black 5 alongside and a blue deltic D9002 passes them all !!! Black 5 shunting blue parcels vans, Model that and you would get shot !!. Also shots of Brits, Jubs, 92ers (incl ex crostis) etc on Holbeck !! - Brilliant

Also, just 1 year out out of our period, but a fantastic film now in BBC iplayer

My layout is now virtually all in this era, 1965 - 68. I'll post a few pix here soon (perhaps replicating the opening scene above, I've got the stock) !!

Yes, and there's a Blue/Grey Mk1 coach further back by the signal box.

Yeah spotted the Mk1, but don't think I've ever seen a Steam Hauled Nuclear Flask wagon before - carried in a six axle bogie well wagon - were these specially converted ?

From the same set of pictures as Michael's post. A white class 37 40/EE Type4/Big D , in undercoat. Also rarely (if ever) modelled but great for those who want to model a specific day.

Edit to get the class correct
