barrowroad
This morning I passed Westerleigh on my way to to the Swindon & Wiltshire History Centre at Chippenham - to do some research for my Barrow Road layout - and noticed one 60 and a 66 in the yard so vowed to do a detour on my return. I arrived to find 60063 at the entrance to the yard, with the Murco tanks and 60015 'Bow Fell' coupled to 66137 outside the compound. Not sure whether there was a problem with 15 as the Lindsay returns have normally gone by this time.
RMweb Gold beast66606 Posted November 11, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 11, 2010 60013 has gone to South Wales but fortunately I managed to get 60059 on the LBT circuit (a 66 and a 59 headed the other workings)

RMweb Premium John M Upton Posted November 13, 2010 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 13, 2010 Any news on DBs sale of 20 tugs? New issue of Railways Illustrated indicates that the reserve price on the 60's for sale was in the six figure range each and that it is believed that none have been sold. Too expensive for the scrappies to make any money out of and well beyond any preservationists pockets not that they should be going anywhere near these demics anyway if they have any sense. br2975
Not quite the 'end of the tugs' - I just re-discovered these shots which were taken at Barry Dock on 22nd. October, 2009 - the last recorded occasion when a Cl.60 worked the Newport ADJ - Barry Docks trip. . 60045 was the loco that day, and I found it by chance. . The train is seen running alongside Woodham Road road and No.2 Dock, and also standing in Dunne Brother's scrapyard ........... someone had fitted a new padlock to the gates and ABP didn't have the key ! Steadfast
Cracking shots Brian, I love seeing trains at the start or end of their journey, it adds a bit more meaning to their workings. Photogenic locations too et voila ! Et voila nombre deux! 60013 seen passing Crofton with the diverted 6B33 due to Didcot - Swindon being shut. Same again for the next 4 weeks IIRC assuming 6B33 isn't caped. Got a wider shot, amongst others, at http://joalder.fotopic.net/c1916115.html cheers jo

Steadfast
I went to South Wales on Friday, and was rather lucky, especially given the weather forecast. Despite the fact that 60013 on the Dee Marsh - Margam was running late, and wouldn't make it to us in daylight, not long after we heard that 60074 was working the engineers trip from Westbury, which made a change from its recent stone workings 60063 crosses the Bishton flyover with 6B13 Robeston - Westerleigh 19/11/10 60074, running about an hour late, passes Undy with 6B65 Westbury - Newport ADJ 19/11/10 More from the day can be seen here http://joalder.fotopic.net/c1917786.html cheers jo

RMweb Gold beast66606 Posted November 22, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 22, 2010 Maybe the end is not quite so near, Apparently DBS are thinking of an overhaul of up to 20 of the class again. Wonder if the tender process for the "scrappers" may yield any surprising buyers
