georgeT
Thanks Guys, With brass you can strip the loco down easily just dunk it into a bath of brake fluid for an hour or so job done, not the same with card ? l enjoyed the little venture all the same..... RMweb Gold PeterBB Posted January 7, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 7, 2017 George - a wee bit disappointed that you have given up the card because you do it so well. On the another point - it costs far less so you don't have to 'melt it down' for parts - just leave it for a while before your cardboard mojo returns, use shellac, as others have recommended, and continue. Meanwhile doing something different has given you your mojo back for 'doing something' in brass. Hope that helps, cheers, Peter
N15class
As above shellac would seal it for painting. I have wondered if sanding sealer would work. the way it does on card as it does for wood. might be easier to get, but what ever you use it need to be enough coats to stop the card being porous. RMweb Gold Brinkly Posted January 7, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 7, 2017 Hi George, All credit to you for having a go! It is a shame it hasn't quite worked out, but I've certainly learnt a lot on scratch building from your posts. Kind regards, Nick.

Andrew P
I knew it wouldn't take long mate, back to what you ENJOY best, just build what you want and enjoy them, I wouldn't worry to much about a Layout, just a Plank with a couple of Points like the one you were going to buy at Halifax.

georgeT
Need to get some wheels to finish off the chassis, so l started on the body, this kit was one of Jims first ones so no cab details are in the kit, so l will have to make my own....

Marcus 37
Hi George That's a shame about "Nellie" as you had done a superb job on her. Don't bin her just yet as you've put so much time and effort in. Have you thought about putting on a thin layer of filler and trying to sand it back to get rid of the blemishes. Just a thought... Lovely work on the new loco in the more conventional brass. Cheers Marcus

N15class
That came together a bit quicker than the one I built for me in 2015. Also look at the O2 for cab details. It is all but the same. Just a few controls that are different.
