Thanks Guys, With brass you can strip the loco down easily just dunk it into a bath of brake fluid for an hour or so job done, not the same with card ? l enjoyed the little venture all the same.....

George - a wee bit disappointed that you have given up the card because you do it so well.  On the another point - it costs far less so you don't have to 'melt it down' for parts - just leave it for a while before your cardboard mojo returns, use shellac, as others have recommended, and continue.  Meanwhile doing something different has given you your mojo back for 'doing something' in brass.

Hope that helps, cheers, Peter

As above shellac would seal it for painting. I have wondered if sanding sealer would work. the way it does on card as it does for wood.  might be easier to get, but what ever you use it need to be enough coats to stop the card being porous.

I knew it wouldn't take long mate, back to what you ENJOY best, just build what you want and enjoy them, I wouldn't worry to much about a Layout, just a Plank with a couple of Points like the one you were going to buy at Halifax.

Hi George

That's a shame about "Nellie" as you had done a superb job on her. Don't bin her just yet as you've put so much time and effort in. Have you thought about putting on a thin layer of filler and trying to sand it back to get rid of the blemishes. Just a thought...

Lovely work on the new loco in the more conventional brass.

Cheers

Marcus

That's nice mate, but where's the 08?

Hello Andy, The 08 was bought really on a whim, so l am getting rid of the 08 and the DCC system, and going to stick with DC, steam loco building is what l really love and enjoy.......

Heres a few pictures of the G6 l built in 2011, l added a shunters step to both sides of the loco and a couple of toolboxes on top of the tanks, the G6 l am building now will be in black with Southern and large numbers on the tank side, not sure about the shunters steps...
