Hello Mate, Yes a J39 would be good for later, in the mean time l have done some more to 68071...

Hi George,

I have been directed to this thread as I have recently acquired one of these (J94 Austerity ST) kits, part built. It doesn't have instructions with it, so I wonder whether you have instructions for yours. If so, any chance of a copy please? My biggest problem (apart from the construction that I have inherited being to an appalling standard) is that I can't see how to complete the saddle tank. What I have here stops just before the bend at the bottom. Help!!

Best wishes

Dennis

Hello Dennis, With my J94 l had to fold up two part of the saddle tank and solder them together and it was not that easy to do, and when l got them to marry up l put loads of solder over the join an then filed the tank until it was right, hope this helps you, if you need anymore drawing pictures let me know....

As George said.

If you don't get a smooth joint you can always melt some soft 100 degree or 70 degree solder over the join and keep sanding and repeating to it's no longer noticeable.

A 320 grit is coarse enough to do the job and fine enough not to leave too much in the way of scratches.

Finish with your Garryflex block :)

Hi Mate, Yes we had a cracking day at Telford as usual, and had many bargains like these two GWR locos, the first is a Tower brass 4400 which l fell in love with as soon as l picked her up,  and the second was an older white metal 14XX  both were run on the test track and ran fine, will strip and repaint the 14XX to weathered black after adding extra details...

That Tower model reminds me of Trebudoc....

I agree, the Tower one looks more like a 45XX mate, Both very nice though, why re paint the 14XX? very few, if any, were Black even in BR I believe.

EDIT = Talking total Bo**ocks as usual.
