GeorgeT's (7mm Workbench) TPO

On the bring and buy stall l bought a 14xx as a rebuild / restoration project for £90, the chassis is fine with a nice smooth running motor plunger pick-ups and some good wheels, but the body needs some major work, complete strip down loads of extra  details to be added and a nice coat of weathered black....

Had a nice day out on the trains yesterday which started at Hazel grove and went all the way to Carlisle, saw loads of units but very few freight, spent three hours at Carlisle and saw just two locos, stopped at Carnfourth where there were a few locos stored up, still had some nice fast runs on Pendilinoes

Hard to imagine all the stock we saw in our days of train spotting, there is not much out there anymore buddy, glad we took thousands of pictures at the time, when we got to Carlisle there was about twenty or so spotters on the platform, good sign l thought WRONG...Hahahaha

Nitro-mors don't mess about Andy, smells a bit but you get good results, also l helped a friend with his O gauge shunting layout yesterday at an open day at Hazel grove school and fell in love with the Bingham couplings he has fitted to all his stock, and its got me thinking....

Your 14XX project looks to be a bargain!  I have given up on all other paint strippers than NitroMors, I am sure health and safety are going to disagree one of these days, but it certainly cuts the mustard paint!

Hi Paul, l'm afraid nothing is a good as it was H&S has changed a lot of products that were good, not anymore....

George,

It is not H&S that has changed things.  It is the detailed research that has been going on with chemicals.  Look at the sodium valproate consternation going on now with regards to pregnancy.  People have complained about the dangers it could do but at the same time there have been a lot who have said that 'I need it'.  Some chemicals in general use for years have been found to be carcinogenic or cause other problems and therefore have been withdrawn from being readily available ( some still in use but under controlled licensed conditions) because if kept in use and someone became ill/died from using it the company would have been told that it was responsible and fined up to millions.

Hi George, good to see you a Wigan over the weekend. I know you mentioned your latest layout thread but I can't remember what is was called. Will be good to have a look-in and see what you're up too.

Ray.
