Jack00
taken at Truro Network Rail depot last month, i'm going to work on getting my rails and chairs this rusty and overgrown. thought they were very inspirational shots. Jack.
Jack00
After a little more rust added. I think it's soon time to have a play and appreciate the digital sound of class 25's. After seeing scott's ( Redbrook ) idea of dummy locos to shunt, I'm tempted to make my ancient Bachmann 25 dummy for shunting and top and tailed purposes. Also 25054 is heavily weathered and detailed around the beams. Just the 25/2 for weathering and detailed. And ploughs, personally 25's with ploughs are heaven. Jack. Jack00
RMweb...are you ready for this...? an update at last. After taking some top-class advice of severel members/exhibtion experts and high quality layout builders, i have made some progress on Burnthouse Lane. (you know who you are and thankyou) The platform has been swapped for a red brick style GWR platform and a pagoda shelter / GWR fencing added. the shelter was in kit form and primed in brown, so had to assemble and paint which is the first time i've ever made a kit, i also added some tin signs and platform gas lamps, again painted in the appropriate colour shcemes (not finished i might add) also a few gaps were filled in with varies ground cover static grasses and thin flock. nothing too bushy or abrasive. and the dreaded backboards have finally gone...they will be replaced shorty with a grey backscene to represent a grey day. so here's the new pictures in order of progress. so now onto the yard area, where gaps have been filled and de-cluttered. thanks for looking. any feedback appreciated. Jack00
couldn't resist... Burnthouse Lane on a dark winters evening, Fred and Sylvia chat under the gas lamp and wait for the 18.30 train to Chacewater. Jack.
Jack00
Off to the shed to do some 'gap filling' the sun is shining right through the shed window so fingers crossed for some atmospheric shots. Jack,
treggyman
Hi Jack Certainly looking better.....Just a few light touches of weathering to tone down some of the plastic finish, where appropriate.....The mail bag for instance Emphasis on light.....Too much & you'll go the other way. Keep up the good work Cheers Bill
Jack00
Thanks Bill, after our convosation i thought i would make a big effort to make the station area a little more convincing and also have a little more charm rather than a concrete platform with no character. i'm really happy with the 'new-look' station. and thanks again for all your helpful advice, and all the others who contributed ( you know who you are )... Jack00
warning picture heavy...after spending an hour in the shed ( i thought it was an hour but other-half reckons 68minutes oh dear im in troube...! ) i took some pictures of a Siphon G being shunted in the siding, and being loaded with milk-churns in the platform. perhaps a small tank locomotive would look the part shunting around in the yard, but had to get new tyres for the car today...OUCH my wallet hurts...!!!! thanks for looking... Jack00
Burnthouse Station in a cold December 1962. Milk churns are loaded to a Siphon ready to be coupled to a short passenger set heading to St.Agnes. Jack.
Jack00
Looking through the pictures I'm so happy with the results of how a kit can make a difference compared to ready assembled- ready to place items. Certainly purchasing some more kits, and wagon kits too. There's a very nice photo on Cornwall railway society of a 22 and 43 in Truro yard with 'mineral' wagons full of turnips! That I will definantly replicate..! Jack.
Danemouth
Jack, Looking good - particularly liked the Siphon in the platform - very atmospheric! Regards, Dave

Jack00
Another bomb shell to add to the thread this evening... even more progress and i'll add now that some of the photo's dont do it justice but here goes: i've added a hill on the tunnel side of the layout (right side) and detailed accordingly. still not finished of course but is certainly getting there. i thought to myself...a tunnel with no hill...? surely not. made from tissue and card skeleton underneath lagged in PVA and glue gunned the supports so pretty solid construction. also i thought some of the bushes were TOO bushy so replaced with thinner flock and flowers. so i big sticky mess to start off with (bare with me on this) Then a layer of sand then grass and flowers to follow also a few pictures to show the tidy up of perticular areas of the layout... So there we have it, a whole evenings worth of work, just me, the shed and the dogs. i'll add some more detailed shots in a bit, but thats the main aspects covered for now, thanks for looking, Jack. Jack00
I'm so pleased with the outcome of these last few evenings spent in the shed. Craving to have a shunt around and 'play trains' not done it for so long. Jack.

Jack00
Bachmann 25 got a light coat of weathering today, White powders in streaks down the body side and blended oil stains from the grills. Needs detailing and roof weathering and it should look like a respectable beast. Upload the pictures tomorrow Jack.
